The Ryan article this morning misses the real point.  Doc misses the point. Everyone seems to walk on egg shells about this team's biggest problem, which it can't do anything about: It is too old to compete for a championship. It reminds me of the Pistons the last few years. They were good enough to make the play-offs, even get to the conference finals. But they could not go all the way.  You just knew, with the regression of both Wallaces, they just could not.  That is who this team reminds me of.

The epicenter of our strength, the big 3, are aging before our very eyes. Garnett can't jump. Teams are starting to attack the rim more often with impunity, knowing that he can't jump. No one fears him when he goes inside on offense anymore.  Rasheed Wallace self admittedly can't jump, and now can't shoot.  Pierce has resorted to his take over ways, and can't finish the way he could two years ago, never mind 5 years ago. Ray Allen is a live and die jump shooter who can no longer defend.

Our youth movement is based on a PG who can't shoot, and a center who has never been athletic, and never will be.

All the talk about needing better chemistry is idle banter.

The window has shut, and Danny's fingers (and ours) have been jammed inside. It hurts.

Here's to hoping we don't wait another 22 years for 18.

I will get alot of grief for writing this, but that is how I have felt for the last week plus.  It's not just reacting to last night's game.

Cheery. This team still has a chance. And who knows what will happen this off-season....
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I agree the Cs look slow, and it's concerning. Let's see how  the next month goes -- if they continue to look a step behind, we'll need to consider changes.

Relax , guys the C's are fine. Just need to make adjustments. Oh ye fans of little faith. Bad games happen. that's just a fact. Denver just lost to the freakin clippers. I'm sure Denver fans aren't screaming making a case that they need to trade Billups for youth.

Over the last few seasons the Pistons were capable of beating any team in a playoff series but lacked the talent to do so four times on the bounce. It wasn't so much a question of age as it was of talent.

The Celtics do have the talent to win four straight playoff series.

"Talent" is the most over  used word, and usually comes out when not getting the job done. We have old "talent", and it has shown for the last 10 days.

It's not about one game. The team has looked pretty weak all season.

Again guys relax. no time to panic. NONE need to make adjustments. notes from this game tells the whole story.  2-19 from 3-point range. Rasheed Wallace 0-8 from 3. And we wonder why we lost last night? We have subconsciously developed the "live by the 3" mentality as of late. Earlier it seemed to be working but the season is long. Once we stop sheed from becoming antoine walker (chucking up unnecessary 3s) we'll be fine. Have faith guys, No need to panic or trade for a puppy.

Really? even within the first few games when we beat the Cavs and were blowing teams out the water? We were looking weak then?

Talent is the difference between a temporary problem and a fundamental problem.

We are one piece away IMO. Last nights game would have been a perfect game for a Nocioni-type player.

I hope Danny is working on something. He's got time before the trading deadline, but I hope something is done well before then.

The bench needs a bit of an edge and needs a little more flexibility.

The elephant in the room is KGs legs, but honestly there's not much that can be done about that. He just needs to keep doing his strengthening and continue to recover.

The element that something can be done about is the bench, and IMO a SF/PF type with an edge is the missing piece.

If that isn't in the offing, I might be convinced of an Iverson move. Like last year with Mar, it's not the right position player, but the prospect of having AI come off the bench is pretty tantalizing...

Only game that I can look to and say we were thoroughly outplayed was the hawks game. As for the other losses, again Turn your attention to the 3 point percentages in those games. In other words as far as i'm concerned only guys that should be shooting 3's are house, allen and occasionally pierce. If you're 6'10 & up (cough, cough Rasheed) you step a few feet within the line and hit midrange jumpers. If we do that, you guys will see the difference. Again no need to panic and for the Love of God , absolutely no need to do anything foolish like dump our talent in favor of youth.

I don't know. threes are a big part of Sheed's game. when they're hitting, it spaces the floor opening things up for penetration from PP, Daniels, and Rondo.

maybe a little more balance, but i don't think you can remove that from his game.
