Boston trades Ray Allen, Scal and Big Baby to Utah for Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko.

Utah gets an All-Star for Boozer while shedding AK’s large contract for next year. They get shooting they desperately need, Baby to back up Millsap -- who moves into the starting line-up -- and finally put an end to the Boozer saga which has been weighing down their locker room. They end up with about 9 to 11mil in cap space in 2010, depending on where the cap ends up.

Boston moves Pierce to the 2 and AK47 to the 3.  Pierce can play off Lebron and VC (AK takes on that job) on the defensive end, keeping his legs a wee bit more spry. Boozer, Wallace, Daniels and House become the best 2nd unit ever. Stackhouse is signed to play some 2 off the bench along with House -- he and Williams provide excellent end of the bench reserves. Minutes are spread pretty evenly so KG, Rasheed, Pierce and others can stay fresh throughout the regular season campaign moving into the playoffs. It's basically a Dream Team concept -- guys share responsibility and take their turns from night to night.

I know it doesn't make much sense. I’m ready to be killed for it – lay it on me.

No,

Trading the starting SG for two more PFs (AK is a PF stuck playing SF) is just not a good idea.

Interesting.  It would be nice to have a big who plays like a big.

I'm aware of AK's limitations as a SF, but as long as he's not relied on as a shooter (something he doens't need to be here) he's very capable of playing there, especially defensively.

Why would Utah do this?  They would be dismantling their front line.

Not it wouldn't. Mehmet Okur, Paul Millsap, Big Baby, Kosta Koufos, and Kyrylo Fesenko.

Might be the best trade idea yet, TP.

It's clearly an upgrade. I just don't know if Ainge is ready to close the big3 chapter.

AK47 salary is too much. The good thing it expires next season. If we don't win the championship this season, we can turn around and trade for more pieces.

Boozer's walking at the end of the year, and they'd LOVE to get out from under AK-47's contract.

I still think that Boozer-for-Rip Hamilton makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Dismantling? They trade a PF and a guy they use (poorly) on the wing for a PF and a wing. They don't have anyone but Okur who can hit a 3. They need shooting, and they get a great shooter.

Meanwhile, they're 4-6 and not playing hard. Williams is talking in the press about their lack of effort. Time for a change...

It would if not for the silly extension DET gave Hamilton. Why on earth did they do it? I don't see Utah taking it.

But why would Booz stay if he's going to play behind KG and we would be using AK just as poorly on the wing.

Great trade for Utah.

Ray becomes SG.  Brewer moves to SF.  They get to start Milsap.

I don't really see Boozer staying, but he'd a great sign and trade chip. And i think AK would be much better as a SF on the Cs. He's being asked to fill a role not designed for him in Utah, because they have zero wing scoring. Wes Matthews is their starting SG and Brewer is now playing SF. Yikes.

Heck, we do too much outside shooting already. He's an excellent offensive rebounder and a great overall garbage man. Passing lanes, blocks, steals, good passer, etc etc.

I don't want Boozer, Carter, O'Grady, Iverson, or anybody else who performs only when they feel like it.

hey, i called it 'kooky' for a reason.

but imagine the difference this would have made last year after KG's injury. then remember how ray couldn't hit the broad side of a barn in the playoffs. then it's not so funny.
