More importantly so to all of us rooting for our beloved Celtics, I wish I am wrong and you are all right.
My point stays that Perk will be a problem at center come playoff time. I only saw one game last playoff where he was outstanding and that was it. Thabeet is not going to meet all the needs you all have mentioned that Perk can offer each game but a strong end-game tall defender like Thabeet can offer a mismatch in that part of an all-important series or plainly a game.
Perk held Dwight Howard to 16 PPG 17RPG 2.7 BPG and 56% shooting while playing him one on one in a seven game series last year while averaging 11 PPG, 12 RPG 2.5 BPG while shooting 53%.
Against Cleveland and Philly,
teams that double teamed Howard all the time, Howard went for 24 PPG, 15 RPG, 2.8 BPG, and 64% FG%.
The Lakers, again, another team
that double teamed Howard all the time only with a combo of Pau Gasol/Lamar Odom/Andrew Bynum, could only hold a double and triple teamed Howard to 16 PPG, 15 RPG, 2.2 BPG and 55% shooting. Basically the same exact numbers Perk held Howard to all by himself.
Also, Big Bad Andrew Bynum averaged all of 6 PPG, 4 RPG, 0.6 BPG while shooting 36% against the same Dwight Howard that Perk averaged a double double versus.
Sorry dude, you have no idea what you are talking about given the center position and Perk vs Bynum. Bynum couldn't guard Howard by himself. Heck with the help of an All-Star center in Pau Gasol and a near All-Star PF in Lamar Odom, he could only hold Howard to similar numbers than Perk held Howard to
ALL BY HIMSELF!!!
And Perk had double the amount of points, 3 times the amount of rebounds and 4 times the amount of blocks while shooting 20 percentage points better against the same man.
These numbers completely and utterly debunk anything you have to say on the matter.
