I don't like him constantly answering questions about himself. The only words I want to hear from this guy are "championship", "we", "the other guys", "winning", "I'll do whatever it takes to help the team". Especially when he's not playing because of a stupid immature incident. I've had enough of the Celtic version of Papelbon.

Well don't listen and don't read his comments.  Honestly, people need to stop demanding things of these players.  He can answers questions if he wants. ::)

So fans should stop demanding that players put the team first and not create a distraction? This isn't an isolated incident. I'm tired of his act and honestly, other posters should stop demanding things of other posters.  ;)

Lets be 100% clear here, Davis talking to the media about pointless stuff like this is not a distraction to the team.  It might distract some fans, but I hardly think anyone on the team care about it for anything more than something to joke around and make fun of Baby about.

Please enlighten me on how this is a distraction.

Getting into a fight 2 days before the opener and breaking his hand is not a distraction? Again, it's a combination of things not just this. I'm tired of his act and I think he's adequately been replaced.

Well the most embarrassing franchise in football, my favorite team, commonly known as the redskins has an open spot at just about every position except for tight end, let's give BBD a look.

...and I agree this is a harmless quotation, call me when Big Baby gets a DUI

speaking of which: didn't the article about his fight say that his buddy who was driving was canned? did he get a DUI?

I'm at a boiling point with Davis and I like Sheldon's game better. I hope Davis can come back and prove to be healthy by the trading deadline... Get the guy out of my face at this point.

I agree. I was pumped about signing him for 2years at 3M/season, but ever since he injured his thumb I've been torn on his attitude lately. We wait so long for opening day and he completely ruined it for me with that injury. Sheldon is playing very well in his absence indeed, and now he's talking about the NFL?

I'm potentially more than at a boiling point with him.

Problem is that I don't know what I want to happen to him.

I don't think he can be positive playing behind KG, Sheed, etc...and that's the exact opposite of UBUNTU.

We need Baby to be all he can be in order for the Celtics as a unit to be all they can be, and I fear Davis isn't being all that he can.

Just trade him for Iverson and call it a day lol.

i dont think so, I thought it said no arrests or anything was made and that the friend just went back home with Davis and spent the night at his place.  I dont know what the driving arrangements were in that regard, but I dont remember anything about a DUI being mentioned.

What attitude??  The guy broke his thumb fighting with his friend, yeah it was stupid and immature and a huge disapointment, but in the grand scheme of things it's not that big of a deal.

he didnt get the contract that he wanted this offseason and went from expecting to maybe being a starting PF on another NBA team, to being the 4th big on the celtics roster.  He could have sulked about it and put on a bunch of weight, but no he got himself in great shape this offseason and came into camp with a good attitude.

He made a mistake, it was his first off the court distraction, give him a chance to learn from it.  It's not like he got caught with 3 guns and is getting domestic violence charges against him.  Thats a distraction. (Sorry Delonte)

I miss Leon... Sorry, had to add it.

Well, Michael Jordan wanted to play baseball, so clearly he was lacking love for the game as well...

I totally agree. I think he had a lot of love for himself. Can you imagine Larry, or Bill Russell, or Magic Johnson being like, "Yeah guys. I know we just won another championship, but I'm gonna try out a sport I haven't done since high school, but hey if it doesn't work out I'll come back. Have fun without me!"

I can't see that.

He was kicked out of the league. There's a difference.

Harmless comments by Baby, taken out of context and misconstrued per usual.  I'm disappointed for this blog after reading some of y'all's comments.  All he said is that he'd like to try football after he mastered basketball.  Big whoop.  Even he knows he's a long way off from mastering basketball.

Some people on this board want robots for players.  Count me among those who prefer the players be allowed to have a personality.

As for his pro prospects, Davis would dominate in the NFL, and I'd hope he'd have enough sense to play a skill position and not in the trenches.
Folly. Persist.

People need to realize that professional athletes are people too and not just entertainers for us.  Call it a distraction, but would you have done if a friend of yours was drunk and offended your girlfriend by saying something, because I and I am assuming most of you probably would have done the same thing Big Baby did.  Big Baby wanting to play in the NFL later in his career is hardly an issue.  Everyone is nitpicking around here, it's like we havn't had a lost yet so we need something to complain about.
do it

you're right, they're not a big deal. but how were they weren't taken out of context? the whole article is about it.

i'm sure no one here would care if they guy hadn't just pulled one of the stupidist stunts in recent memory. we'd all laugh about it. but he did, so we're not.
