Read this on ESPN this morning:

From his quotes, it seems like he is saying that having KG and Sheed on the team is holding him back. This is probably true, but I don't see him being an all-star caliber player any time soon.

he does realize that breaking your hand in a fight doesnt bode well for a football career, prolly break his thumb first play
"Sam Cassell was heckling on the sideline when I walked down, He looked at me and was like, ‘You're getting the ball, I know you're getting the ball!'
said Allen.

And did Cassell, a man of many words, have anything to say after that?

"No, I told him he needed to wear a tie."

Give me a break.  Is this guy a likeable version of Ron Artest?  I don't know what is funnier- that he thinks he'll play in the NFL or that he thinks he'll be a great player and allstar in the NBA.  I guess he's not going to be a professional kickboxer.

I'm at a boiling point with Davis and I like Sheldon's game better. I hope Davis can come back and prove to be healthy by the trading deadline... Get the guy out of my face at this point.

These days Ron Artest is a likable version of Ron Artest, aside from the Laker thing.  But yeah, Baby's sounding a little delusional.  I wouldn't read too much into the KG and Sheed things though; he's absolutely right that he won't be an All-Star as the 4th big on this team.  Whether he'll ever be an All-Star under any circumstances is much more of a stretch.  But it sounds like his head is growing much faster than his game.

I hope his belly isn't growing along with his head, or else I'll be with Jsaad.  I'm almost at that point anyway.

Blow things out of proportion much? ::)

I don't see anything wrong with what Davis said.  He wants to play in the NFL after he becomes an all-star in the NBA, which means he won't be playing in the NFL.  And as far as saying there are players ahead of him, what's wrong with saying what is true?  I don't get the problem with anything he said.

Quote
In August, Davis signed a two-year, $6 million contract with the Celtics. He doesn't foresee jumping to the NFL at the end of this contract because he doesn't think he'll reach his NBA goals by then.

"No, we've got too many other great players in front of me -- KG and Rasheed Wallace -- for that to happen," he said.

Is this true or not? ::)

You guys just love dumping on Davis.  There's no other reason you should be upset at what he said.
"If somebody would have told you when he was playing with the Knicks that Nate Robinson was going to change a big time game and he was going to do it mostly because of his defense, somebody would have got slapped."  Mark Jackson

Seriously, you guys are getting worked up over a fluff piece, where a reporter asked Baby about his history as a 2 sport athlete, and whether he would like to play in the NFL?

Why are people interviewing him when he's out of the lineup?  I'd rather hear from the people who make logical, responsible decisions and are playing and winning all these games.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Exactly.  Baby just answered a question honestly.  There is no need to say you're sick of him.  You chose to read the article, your fault.  There is nothing wrong with him dreaming about the NFL.  People have to calm down and stop being so sensitive about what these guys say, especially if it's a non-issue.

It's not as if Big baby was in the wrong place hanging out with the wrong people.  He was with his gf and a childhood friend who happened to be drunk.  How many of us haven't been in similar situation and wanted to fight our buddy, or even did it.  Worst of all the friend offended his girl.  Not saying that fighting is the answer but im not gonna crucify the guy.  Sorry to be off topic.

Also, I think its important to point out that we have no idea when this interview took place.  Brousard may have gotten these quotes 3 weeks ago, or on media day, and has simply been sitting on this fluff piece until he needed to file a story but didn't have anything better.

I am amazed how quickly turn on these guys.

Hey, idrinkdetergent, you do know that the NFL takes College Wrestlers and makes them offensive lineman, right? So why is it crazy for Glen Davis, who at one point was a huge football prospect, to succeed in Pro Football? He has the body, EVERY NFL team would work him out, he has incredible agility which is something that all the great NFL lineman have.

Hell, the story goes that the main reason LSU wanted him was becuase they thought they could convince him to play football.

I hope that Baby plays out his contract, maybe another one, and gives it a try... it's not like he'd walk away from a HOF NBA Career to try it out.
