Lakers' Pau Gasol may have small tear in his hamstring
November 2, 2009 |  1:21 pm
Lakers forward Pau Gasol underwent a sonogram that showed a possible tear in his right hamstring, and he is not expected to play on the team's upcoming two-game road trip, the team said.

Gasol also had a more complex MRI exam today on his hamstring, and those results will be known by Tuesday.

Gasol is traveling with the Lakers for their games in Oklahoma City on Tuesday and in Houston on Wednesday but will not play. "We don’t expect him to play on this trip," Lakers spokesman John Black said.

Gasol, a two-time All-Star, has missed all three of the Lakers' regular season games and their last six exhibition games.

I take no particular joy in this.  I'd rather see the Lakers lose when fully healthy, rather than giving them an excuse.

For karma's sake I will not celebrate this regardless of the severity. We will destroy LA even with a 100% healthy Pau.

Beat me by 50 seconds Roy. Per usual, you are correct.

I'm with you on this one. And I don't want to laugh at a team that's got hurt people because that could turn around and happen to us.

Lakers are having some chemistry problems right now.  Integrating Artest, dealing with Pau being out for an extended period and even dealing with a young Bynum demanding the ball more are all going to need resolution.

I thought the Celtics were the ones everyone wanted to say would break down. Now the Lakers have Gasol out for a while, Vince Carter didn't play on Sunday for the Magic, and Delonte West just returned for the Cavs.

Oh wait...BBD broke his arm...FIGHTING a friend!

I dunno, the way other fans talk about our team's age on the ESPN boards, I at least don't wanna hear it (the excuses) from them.

I hope it hurts their record so if we face each other in the Finals we have home court. But I want them to be their best when we kill them. Again.

I never enjoy other teams/players injuries, especially when it happens to its stars. And although I hate Gasol I don't cheer for him to be hurt. But I must admit it will make the Lakers fans shut down a little bit for a while and stop talking trash about Celtics fans by saying " 'KG was hurt' was an excuse", so... as far as for Lakers fans, I'm glad to hear something that will humble them down.

Otherwise... good recovery to Gasol.

Gasol is probably the only Laker I don't hate. I'm not a fan and playing for LA hasn't helped him much in my book. But I can't find much of a reason to hate him.

Now Kobe,Artest,Vujacic or P.Jackson on the other hand can drop over.

The only thing it could effect is home court advantage for the playoffs.

Healthy Celtics beat the healthy Lakers twice in the 2008 regular season and won the championship.  Andrew Bynum and Ariza were injured for the Lakers.

Healthy Lakers beat the healthy Celtics twice in the 2009 regular season and won the championship.  KG was injured and the Celtics couldn't get back to the finals.

Whoever is injured never causes an asterisk to be put onto the trophy, nor does it prevent a banner from being raised.

Anybody who complains "Yeah but if ______ wasn't injured," is lame.

I really hope Gasol recovers and it's not lingering. And I hope he is ready for Feb 18 (Or whenever the C's and Lakers meet for first time this season).

While I don't "Hate" anyone on the Lakers, I DO have a "Strong" dislike.....for the whole team.

DOn't get me wrong...LA has had some VERY talented players come through there, but if you Love Boston, then you hate LA.

It's funny in a way....no one had sympathy for Boston last year, so it's interesting to see how they will respond to it.

They'll be aight....Pony up, Suck it up, git er' done, LA!!!Shoes on the other foot now.

They lose one person and they are struggling. That's why Danny, Doc and Threesome went out and heavily recruited Sheed. Sheed is our GEICO. And KG is recovering quite nicely.

Continue to monitor the starter's minutes, and we will lessen likelyhood of injuries. And so far Doc is doing a fine job of that.
