Not only were the Bird comparisons ridiculous when Morrison was at Gonzaga, so were the expectations of his pro potential at all. Bird was a pretty complete player in college: a great rebounder and passer who at least tried at defense: Morrison was an incredibly one dimensional player who lacked the physical tools to perform that one dimension on the pro level. I was shocked pro scouts were buying this and even had him as a first round pick never mind a high lottery guy.
Many guys can go off for a game or two in the NBA, even marginal guys. Morrison has never shown anything that resembles being a guy who can play in the NBA for any extended period of time. One of the worst draft picks in history and all the red flags were there when he was drafted.
Nice story of a guy who has overcome diabetes to get to even the level he did in college, but beyond that the kid can not play.
