Sorry, but posts like this are the reason I almost never come here anymore.
Rondo may be the third best pg(Paul, Rose) in the whole league IMO- no one is perfect.
Would all you critics prefer Dana Barros, Delonte West, Marcus Banks, Sebastian Telfair, John Bagley, or any of the dozens of other pgs the C's have had since the 80's?
Guess I'm just an old fart who appreciates that we finally have a pg who is not only exciting to watch, but is a winner.
Spare me the stats(though I agree that the foul shooting is inexcusable), the guy does things almost no other pg does. And contrary to the OP, Rondo has superior bb iq and instincts and makes very few errors.
So that's my ignorant, uninformed opinion for today. Bring on the insults or smug superiority.
And I apologize for the tone of my post, I'm tired:)

Rondo is an unconventional player, which is one reason why he's so effective. But yes, he makes mistakes.  So does everyone.

I'm old enough to remember when HS and college coaches used to tell their players, "I don't want you to play like Cousy.  If you start trying to throw those behind the back and no look passes you're headed right to the bench."  LOL

HS coaches don't still say that?  I know if I was a HS coach, I would bench a kid immediately if he tried to pull that stuff...well, unless he could REALLY pull it off.

We had one coach who always told us "Turn off the TV! Stop trying to do what the NBA players do because they're the only ones that can do it!" and another who told us "Turn on the TV!  See how the pros do it and maybe you'll learn something!"  These are more or less verbatim.  So I never quite knew what to do with the TV.  I'd imagine it's even more confusing these days what with the YouTubes and the FaceSpace and whatnot.

Well, I've turned off my TV. My son is recording the games onto dvd and mailing them to me. Of course, I'll know the outcome when I'm watching, but is it worth $75/month to watch the rest of the crap on the tube? Especially since there are no new episodes of Futurama.

Well, your coach probably didn't want you whistled for travelling or palming on every possession, which is what would happen to players trying to do that stuff in a game of REAL basketball.

Yeah not sure what game some of you watched.  He was dominating out there last night.  Anymore games like that and he will deserve the max.

Dominating on the ball defender and relentless on the boards.

Rondo did not dominate the game, he made several good plays especially in transition. But its hard to call it domination when he wasn't able to penetrate consistently.

He dominated from my perspective of course I'm including multiple aspects of the game.

I think what he meant is that he was dominant in his on the ball defense, not like his matador style he played last year. And given that Williams was a non factor, especially in the fourth quarter when Williams was invisible, in that aspect, running the break, rebounding, and having the confidence to take his shot, I'ld have to agree with him.

His penetration left something to be desired and he had a really bad turnover but other than that Rondo going for 10 points, 10 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 turnovers a game given all the talent around him that can score, is a pretty dominant PG performance if he takes the other PG out of the game defensively.

Dominating's a stretch. You usually use that definition for someone who single handedly won that game. He dominated the PG position on a 1 on 1 standpoint, but Clevelands team D was able to stop Rondo for stretches. He considerably cooled off nearing the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 4th.

He was good though. Don't get me wrong.

He played very good D on Williams, but that's not really dominance. You can't dominate a game by playing great D on the opponents point and then having a efficient but unspectacular offensive performance.

Too each his own I'll stick with a dominating on ball defense last night.  And my original post was meant to question anyone questioning his game last night.  So if you didn't question his game you probably aren't who I was commenting on.

By that definition Perk dominates games more than Pierce.

Leave it to Billy Simmons fan to come up with an awful analogy. ( sad emoticon )

I'm with you Double B. I think he took Williams completely out of the game, Cleveland's second biggest offensive threat by the way, and was outstanding in his running of the team offense and rebounding out of the PG slot. With only 2 turnovers.

let's not forget, when all is said and done, we are talking about the 4th or 5th offensive option on the team here depending on who he is on the floor with at any given time.
