Looks like he was practicing his MMA skills on his friend.

Interesting.  One story says the friend was intoxicated, and the other says he was driving.  BBD isn't stupid enough to subject himself and his girlfriend to drunk driving, is he?

You'd think so, but he's apparently dumb enough to risk his livelihood punching his drunk friend, who was most likely making middle-school jokes about her.

Stupid drunk people doing stupid drunk things.  And shirtless just to complete the stereotype.  Drop Baby's income by 99% and you've got an episode of Cops.

This part of the second article doesn't really make a lot of sense.

Quote
The team has been hurting financially, the source said, and Grousbeck sees this as an opportunity to recoup some of Davis’ salary.

If the team was REALLY hurting that badly financially, they would have just let Davis walk this summer and pimped Sheldon Williams as his replacement.  I can imagine the team being ****ed, but if it was JUST a matter of money Glenn wouldn't be wearing a green uniform this season.

EDIT: Lots of people jumping to conclusions about drunk driving.  There were four people in the car, could easily have been a DD - and as per the Herald article, the cops DID come to the scene and let two people drive away in the SUV.  Glenn might have been drunk, we don't know, but no reason at all to believe anyone was driving drunk.

Yeah, it makes no sense.  As noted elsewhere, this doesn't save Wyc any money, as BBD's salary now goes to charity.

Does it come off the luxury tax though?  I don't know if it's technically salary anymore, so they still may be saving dollar-for-dollar whatever they take from Davis.

EDIT: Thanks, Roy.  Yup, that line of reasoning makes no sense.  Seems like a lot of guys' "sources" are kinda flimsy these days, no?

For team suspensions, the Celts still owe 100% luxury tax.  For league suspensions, they're only responsible for 50%.

I don't think "retaliating by throwing a punch back" means the same thing as "defending" one's self.

And in my opinion, letting a drunk friend drive while you're in the car is the same as driving drunk yourself.

I reread the article and it looks like punches were thrown while the vehicle was moving (i.e., the friend was driving).  ::)

Baby may have had a kidney infection and was flushing his kidneys. I hope it was light beer.

well, we are talking about the same guy who not that long ago drove his SUV the wrong way down a one way lane in a snow storm and got into an accident in Waltham

no. there is something very suspicious about that article.

big baby drinking? fighting over a woman?

do they really expect us to believe that a professional athlete would behave in such an irresponsible manner?

nope cant see it.  ;)
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.
