Stupid drunk people doing stupid drunk things.  And shirtless just to complete the stereotype.  Drop Baby's income by 99% and you've got an episode of Cops.

Funny, but true.  And sad.

The good i took out of this is the 3 to 4 months has been vastly overstated.

Both articles put the time table more at 6-8 weeks.

This is a crazy story, don't be surprised if his friend soon becomes the person suing him. He definitely does not deserve to be paid while he is injured.

Am I missing something? Why do people keep saying Davis was drunk? Doesn't the artical say the police checked out Davis and Gomez and found them not to be impaired? Not that he didn't screw up, but people don't need to add to it.

I doubt anyones going to get a large settlement out of a fight. Both articles say the fisticuffs were pretty mutual. All your getting out of that in a torts case is damages for hospital bills, and since the cops didn't even make them go, the injuries couldn't have been that serious.

The big money cases you see involve punitive damages, doubtful a fist fight that both participated in is going to invoke that.

No, that is in fact not what the articles say. they say there were four people in the car, and davis and the friend were drunk.

My assumption is its glen, friend, glen's fiancee, and another, who to glen's credit may have been the DD since the cops let the car drive away from the scene. (which means someone haden't been drinking.)

their wont be any suit, because the friend told police he threw the first punch.  period.  no case.

I've read the artical a few times and again I don't see where it says Davis was drunk. I read it as his friend was druck and Davis checked out as not being impaired. Can you please show me where it says he was druck in the artical. I don't see where it says who was driving either,

From the Marc Spears article:

Quote
Davis said he and his high school friend got into a heated debate over some “personal issues,” and the friend, who was driving their vehicle, threw a punch at Davis.

This is wrong. Direct quote from the Bulpett article:

"Sources told the Herald both Davis and Gomez, 24, who lives with the Celtics forward, were checked out and neither was found to be impaired."

And from the Spears article, in referring to the police report:

"Neither Davis nor Gomez were intoxicated, the report said."

Wrong.  It clearly states that neither Davis or his girlfriend were drunk.

Looks like Glen was defending his girl.  His friend probably got drunk and did or said something bad.  Sorry, but I can't be that upset with him for this-- sure, I'm ticked that he's hurt and not going to play, but I can't get too upset. What kind of guy wouldn't defend his girl?

I've done much dumber things at 23 for honor of a woman I cared about.  He still should be suspended though and it seems as if he didn't lie like Monta Ellis with the moped.  So maybe not keeping Powe was a good idea after all...

That was my take also.  Seems at least the first article indicated he and his girlfriend were not impaired.  Either way, we don't know the details and therefore shouldn't speculate.  We can all moralize about a 24 year old doing stupid things -- but my guess is that most of us would have failed the stupid test at some point in our 20's.  Not to excuse (he should be suspended and reprimanded), but not to make it a bigger deal than it is.

Getting into a physical fight with a friend? Over words said? Pathetic.

[Edit]
In Davis' defense though, it does say the other dude threw the punch, not Baby.
