What are the specific details surrounding the circumstances of the injury? I've yet to read them, yet there are many here talking about Davis as if he was the devil incarnate. Seeing the reaction by the owners, etc. it does seem like it might not be good, but come on... shouldn't you wait to know he details of what occured? I don't know, I guess I'm just one of those few that like to get the facts straight before judging someone and drawing conclusions.

So are there details available? Or are we simply just talking crap without knowing much?

I'm pretty much trusting Wyc on this one.  His reaction was very harsh, which leads me to believe that this was entirely preventable.
Wyc's reaction also leads me to believe that there have been other issues with Big Baby that have left him very unhappy.

"I am not going to call him Big Baby anymore.  He is Glen and he needs to act like Glen and we will decide what to do once we talk to him" Grousbeck said

"It is very likely he will be suspended and he will have time to think about it."

If he eats hotdogs during timeouts it may diminish his trade value. I do like Glen but the Redskins is good example of what with happens with no leadership and no discipline.

Eh, I took it more as a Monta Ellis like situation.  They just gave him a new contract, and he doesn't even play a game before getting hurt doing something stupid off the court.

While I am sure they have had their frustrations with Davis at times, I think the frustration over this is more just because of the timing.

Yeah, I'm seeing it this way too.  The timing couldn't be worse.  He's a 3rd year player now.  He's gotta make better decisions.

He's costing the Cs $6 million per year. I'd be ripped if I was management.

Exactly.  You don't see these types of things happening with Ray Allen, for example.

I bet there is more to this than meets the eye -- stuff that occurred in training camp that we as fans were not privy to.  For example, someone posted here on CB a few weeks back that BBD was at his (the poster's) cousin's house, chugging vodka straight from a bottle... makes you wonder a little bit.
Celtics fan for life.

Baby got engaged the night of the incident and was trying to get some alone time with his girl in a public setting. He asked his buddy to act as a bodygaurd for him. the guy basically blew it off so he and baby had a disagreement resulting in punches.

you heard it here first.

I think there's a lot more under the surface.  Think back to Doc's comments about how young the bench was last year; is that just about on-the-court actions?  Think about the "we lost ubuntu" comments; were those just aimed at Rondo?

If I'm a wagering man, I'm betting that GD (no more BBD) showed some maturity issues last year, which may have been why ownership was reluctant to pony up for a new contract early in the offseason.  Same reasons they are dragging their feet on giving Rondo what he wants.  I'm imagining that GD promised to grow up when they signed that deal, and that Wyc is now p---ed because GD doesn't appear to have done so.

Now, this is all just pure speculation, but that's what makes sense to me as a likely backdrop.

That would be a very stupid way to get hurt.

Weird enough to be true.

Celtics need to part ways with Glen Davis. This brings nothing but trouble for the entire team and this punk is trying to destroy the chemistry. Even Marbury was in line when he was here. Big Baby is a punk. He trained MMA for a few months and all of a sudden he thinks he's Machida..

I am a pro MMA fighter and I won't lie to you. When I first started training, my first few months I developed an ego, cocky adittude and thought I was the baddest man on the planet until 15 men beat the living hell out of me and put some sense into my head. MMA is a good sport, and very good for physical fitness but Baby needs to be cut from the roster plain and simple. I will make this guarantee and say that HIM and Tony Allen won't lass come ALL-STAR date.

And let's be realistic, we really don't need Baby to win a championship. He's not that important to the team. I'm a little bit disappointed that they cut Sweeteney. We could of used his massive size, plus he's somewhat good downlow.

I however, cannot blame Big Baby alone. Almost all young NBA players get in some sort of trouble. As soon as they make some good money, trouble starts to find them. Those good old days where players would train their butts of NOT TO GET A CONTRACT but to be the best in the game are long over. Nowdays, everyone showcases their talent for the contract. I wish there was more guys like Ray Allen, KG, Kobe Bryant, LeBron who play for the love of the game and not just money.

Wow tough break for BBD. I wish him a speedy recovery. What type of friend gets into an altercation with a pro-athlete right before his season starts? I can't wait to hear the full story behind this one.

Time to see if force-feeding Williams some minutes can make him a passable rotation player. Better to find that out as early as possible in the season rather than later. The end-of-bench-big bar was set so low by POB and Mikki that it wouldn't take much to impress me so go Sheldon
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

I agree with most of this except him TRYING to destroy team chemistry. I don't think that he is intentionally trying to bring the team down, rather he is too selfish and immature to focus on avoiding trouble that results in that. Just like his comment the other day admitting he would have preferred to sign elsewhere. It was selfish. He'll be real sad later in the year when he either gets traded away, or he is riding the pine behind Williams who has taken his few minutes of court time. Very poor choices by this young man.
