It almost feels like an injustice that he's not in a celtics uniform enjoying the success that they have now. I wish he could have won a ring with us, he was one of the young players that I was really sad to see go and I thought could actually contribute towards a championship. I know he's probably happy getting big minutes in Minnesota right now, but I hope one day he returns to the Celtics. He was the one player in the trade that I absoloutely did not want to see go(other then al jefferson but he was inevitable).

I really liked the way he played in his first two seasons here. I used to be a huge fan of his, but I sort of forgot how much I like him as a player until I just remembered today. Does anyone else miss Ryan Gomes?

Yeah ... liked him, too ... I wouldn't mind seeing him and Leon in green again someday ... loved Posey and Big Al, but it looks like Al may have a chronic injury thing started, though I pray it's not. (TP)

I'd take Ryan (or should I say Ryen?) over Baby any day. I miss his game, a lot. I've said a hundred time that him and DWest would be so good on this team. That's a really solid core for now and the future with Rondo/Perk/Gomes/West. Add a legit SF and a PF that could rebound and shoot the 18 footer and we'd be good to go after the current era.

I like Ryan, but plant him on this squad and he's a fringe player.  BBD's more valuable in the rotation because of his defense against big men.  Quisy's more valuable as the backup wing because of his ballhandling.  He's good enough to get a few minutes, but he'd be 10th man, either behind Daniels and House on the wing or behind 'Sheed and BBD in the frontcourt.

I agree, as much as I like Ryan Gomes he may be in the Brian Scalabrine role on this roster. Still I would take him back as a Celtic in a heartbeat. Well liked, smart and a team player.

If Ryan had some more speed he'd be great as bench guy for us.  SF minutes and some PF.  Great guy, class act, sort of person you'd always want on team  BUT he doesn't help us that much anymore.

I'd like him off the bench too.  He'd be a tiny upgrade from Baby in my opinion.  Also, Delonte would be the perfect backup for Rondo if his head was screwed on right.

I really don't pine for anyone who was a part of this team when it was one of the worst in the league.

Gomes is a role player, little more, and those are a dime a dozen.

I agree with the OP.  Gomes is a solid role player who would look good in green.

That said, we signed a bigger, cheaper version of him:  Shelden Williams.
God bless and good night!

I'd take him as a Scalabrine replacement, but he doesn't belong in a good team's rotation.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

wow, could you be more condescending  ::)

PP, Al, Gomes and Delonte were on that team.  2 All-Stars and 2 solid bench players.  I'd take all of them.

Not much else on that team but not a complete waste.  there was enough assets on that team to net Ray and KG so the roster wasn't as useless as you make it out to be regardless of what they accomplished as a collective unit.

Good post.  True.  Gomes isn't great, but he's not in the same stratosphere as Shelden Williams either.  He's probably a little better than Baby and Scal.  And surprisingly, he shoots the 3 better than our second coming of Larry Bird- Rasheed Wallace.  He's no savior, but he would slightly improve the team.

Gomes is not a good defender.  That's where he hurts you and why I have no desire to see him back.

Even if he shoots 3's better than 'Sheed, 'Sheed's more valuable as a shooter because he's pulling big men away from the interior.  Gomes is typically going to be guarded by someone that's not an interior defender.
