Gomes is not a good defender.  That's where he hurts you and why I have no desire to see him back.
True, he's not a good defender with his body and relative lack of athleticism.  I still think he'd help.  He'd also be filtering guys toward KG, Perk, and Sheed instead of Big Al and Kevin love.

I really don't pine for anyone who was a part of this team when it was one of the worst in the league.

Gomes is a role player, little more, and those are a dime a dozen.
wow, could you be more condescending  ::)

PP, Al, Gomes and Delonte were on that team.  2 All-Stars and 2 solid bench players.  I'd take all of them.

Not much else on that team but not a complete waste.  there was enough assets on that team to net Ray and KG so the roster wasn't as useless as you make it out to be regardless of what they accomplished as a collective unit.
Good post.  True.  Gomes isn't great, but he's not in the same stratosphere as Shelden Williams either.  He's probably a little better than Baby and Scal.  And surprisingly, he shoots the 3 better than our second coming of Larry Bird- Rasheed Wallace.  He's no savior, but he would slightly improve the team.
I'd definitely take Gomes over Scal.  Better offense and rebounder.  has a nose for the ball and makes good things happen on the court.  I don't see him as a BBD replacement since BBD splits time betweent the 4/5 spots.  I'd feel very confident in a second team of Daniels, House, BBD, Sheed and Gomes as opposed to using Scal, TA, Giddens or Walker in that spot right now.  More than enough scoring and rebounding in that group.

His defensive skills may be debatable.  I think in the right system against similar types of players he'd do well.  He won't be guarding players like PP and Lebron very well but he could give 2nd and 3rd tier SFs and PFs some problems.

I really like Gomes, but I don't want him back, not with the squad we have now.  Like someone else said, he can replace Scal, but then he wouldn't get the minutes he desires.

I am the biggest Gomes fan out there....Hints the name!
I miss hime too and it is an injustice. I have followed him since day one at PC I am from RI.

I have posted in the past about how he is the perfect player, not the best but a perfect all around player on and off the court and in the locker room!

I will see if I can find the post later and I will link it to this thread.

A lot of Wolves fans aren't too crazy about Gomes.

Defense, and they think he's overpaid.

Absolutely 100% agreeing with you there! Ryan Gomes was a player for the future (and still is) and would contribute well for us and getting valuable experience with the bunch of guys we got now.  In fact, Tony Allen + Big Baby out for him would be worth it in my opinion. However, the trade machine aint having it :)

If that's true you should send those ungrateful Wolves fans my way.

Overpaid? Gomes is in line for just under $18 million over the next four seasons. This year he'll make roughly 500k more than Scalabrine and $2.1 million less than James Posey. While just a third of that salary is guaranteed money from here on out.

And he'd be a fine fit in a strong defensive system, where his work ethic and basketball acumen could mask his lack of quickness at the 3/inability to protect the rim at the 4. No less a personage than Britt Robson is a Gomes-booster.

I certainly don't miss Gomes.  This team already has its undersized power foward, it doesn't need two.  And he's too slow to guard the 3 on a team where defense is valued.
