I just read the ball is dead after the foul is called, and that you can goaltend after the whistle, but not before it (so if a ref called goaltending right before another ref calls a foul, then you get 2 poitns and a shot. After the foul it's legal and they get 2 shots).

However, I read this on a high school reffing forum, so I may be wrong. First thing I found on google.

Marquis is just abusing Moon so far.  Offense looks good.

Posey used to goaltend after the foul all the time.

Does Mo Williams HAVE to fall on the floor each shot?

Looks like perkins spun, then didn't realize how tall Big Z really is and went "oh crap!"

Giddens passing is actually really bad. He doesn't hit Eddie or Quisy in the right spots and they always seem to stumble with it for a bit

He looks like typical Sheed.. Quis looked real good, though.

I hope Giddens steps on him and breaks his hand.

Oh man I love Eddie. Does any other player give your more excitement after a shot? It's all arc.

Good players with high arc = excitement. It goes Eddie > Ray > Dirk > Roy.

At this point, I'd bet on Eddie's 3's over Rays to go in if i'm in the moment.

Player A is fouled. The whistle is blown [while the player is in the act of shooting]. If Player B grabs the ball on its way down, is it considered goaltending, even though the clock is not running?
-- Zuhair

Bernie's answer: Yes. Goaltending is called on a shot that could count. In the example you give, the player gets the shot off before or while he is fouled. This is a shooting foul. If the ball goes in, the basket would count. Therefore, a defensive player may not interfere with the ball's downward trajectory.

You must love Ben Gordon...and yet another reason to hate Kobe!

Good call. I guess thats why NBA > high school.
If that ball was way off I guess the ref was ok. Or it could be some bad replacement reffing.
