I just wanted to say one thing.  D. Marshall usually has the useless information but he hit the nail on the head tonight.  Do you think we can put the Scalabrine chants to rest now.  It's getting old and pretty much annoying.  I know sending this out won't get rid of it but I think this is a big enough forum to help die it down a little.  Listen if you want to chant and make fun of players,  do it to the guys on the other team,  but please stop the Scalabrine Chant. It makes Celtics fans look stupid.

I think there's a legitimate fondness for Scal.
and the chants I think used to be in mockery of him, but in the last few years Boston fans have really appreciated what he's done for us. We try to get him fired up, much like we do with Eddie.

I think it would be embarrassing, but Scal's dealt with it for so long and he makes more money than any of those guys, so even if it is mockery, I don't think he really cares.

Just my two cents.
Practice? Whatchu talkin about practice?

That's bull, its a mockery.

People don't even cheer like that for KG alley oops and Ray Allen 3's. It's the most insane cheering of the night and it disgusts me.

I disagree.  I think last year he came out and said he didn't like it in an interview.  Look it is all fine to chear for a guy when he is playing well but when you are chanting louder for Scal touching the ball then KG getting an alley oop for Rondo, their is something wrong with it.  It is all making fun of him, and the fact that he makes a lot of money doesn't matter.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Scal is liked by the fans, just for all the wrong reasons.

If he wasn't such a scrub him scoring a basket wouldn't be such an event.

when the chant started, lets be honest....it was in a sarcastic way bc he was a "goofy white guy" that was considered a scrub.

however, over the years, i think the chant has transformed into a term of endearment.

It's shameful. The shot of the fan with the blown up Scal mask was pretty degrading too.

I agree that many mean it in support of Scal from just being at games where it has happened, but it's truly getting old.  Scal actually contributes when on the floor without wowing anyone.  This is the kind of thing that should be reserved for Sweetney.

I agree with DL totally. However, I don't think it should be reserved for Sweetney AT ALL. His dad died and he overate to try and control the pain he felt. That's not something to mock, especially when its clear he has really good low post skills. I actually hope he makes the team and works of the 30 lbs that Donny estimated he needs to lose. I'd love to see his life NOT be derailed by a tragedy.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Look I strongly believe that is mockery,  at least 95% of it is,  and in all reality I think it affects his game (negatively ). I bet he plays better on the road.  That being said if D.Marshall is saying it on the brodcast that he doesn't like it that should tell you Scal doesn't like it. You know they talked about it, and if Scal was like "Oh yea that pumps me up " DM would have never said anything.  Look if you want it to be genuine cheering then do it after the ball goes through the net, not everytime he touches the ball.( Like you do every other player )  The every time he touches the ball thing is mockery.
