How about Brian Scalabrine for Deshawn Stevenson?

There is a huge logjam at the 2 and 3 in Washington with Randy Foye, Mike miller, Nick Young, Dominique Mcguire, Caron Butler, it looks like Deshawn Stevenson will be the oddman out.

Deshawn has 2 more years left on his contract, he had the worst season of his career last year, actually probably one of the worst seasons for any starting player in recent memory... but he is still young, and not to give him any excuses,  but he was playing injured all year. Before that, he showed that he could play good defense and that he could hit the open 3 pointer, and he has the athleticism that everyone seems to love.  I think Washington just might trade him for an expiring and a good character like Scalabrine. He seems to think he has some kind of rivalry with Lebron, he's has the damon jones syndrome where he thnks he is an allstar when hes just a secondary role player....but at least it shows he has confidence and swagger. I think he will play better in the playoffs then the regular season and will really want to guard the opposing teams best player when hes on the court. he is kind of crazy, he has ugly tattoos, but he can still be a solid role player. I dont know why but I think he can fill the same role that a player like Michael Peiutrus filled last year with the Magic in the playoffs.

I kind of like Deshawn, but I worry that the chemistry established already in the team may be altered by the departure of Scal. Right now he is a valuable player in our team, he knows the plays and is tough as nails. If you said Stevenson for Tony Allen, then I would say yes :P

I put Scalabrine because his contract is very close to Deshawn's and it would be an easy trade. With Tony Allen it would have to be a 2-for-1, which wouldn't be too bad for us, but for the wizards I dont think theyre looking for a 2 for 1, and bringing in Tony Allen would do nothing to clear their logjam of players...

I know...I just think that the only player whose departure would benefit the team is Tony Allen

How bout 2 for 1 and cash and a draft pick? Scal and Tony plus cash for Deshawn. They buyout Scal and we resign him plus keep Sweetney. Washington gets a draft pick for the troubles, plus saves a year in salary from Stevenson's contract.

Rondo, House, Lester
Ray, Stevenson, Giddens
Pierce, Daniels, Walker
KG, BBD, Sweetney
Perk, Sheed, Sheldon
Can't stop, Rondo!

salaries dont match. Besides, Washington doesn't need a 2 for 1 trade, they also have 16 players, they already have to make a tough decision and theyre not gonna add more...

Scalabrine straight up for Stevenson works and there is still a possiblity washington buys him out.

I would do it, although that one extra year will be harder to swallow on Stevenson's deal. He isn't really a good player anymore.

On a side note. Can you believe that Scalabrine is finally in the last year of his deal? I remember when everyone was moaning and groaning in 2005 or 2006 ish when we were stuck with him for years with virtually no possibility of a trade.

I'm all for trading Scal for the right player. More likely than not, that player will have to have more than 1 year left on his deal. But I'm not sure Stevenson's that guy. Not sure though. Scalabrine is versatile, can stretch the floor, and does at least try when he's given defensive assignments to play with. I can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe it's best we hold on to him.

I'd rather keep scal and keep tony to see if we can package those two with Baby to actually make a midseason splash for a single player making something in the 10 mil range.

Very bad idea.  I've got season tickets for the Wiz and have watched Stevenson the past three years slowly go down a rat hole...granted he was injured most of last year. However, he still stinks...never liked his hand in the face I'm great attitude. His strength was suppose to be defense...never impressed, and he fell in love with the 3. Decent shot when it didn't matter. The Cs do not need another 6' 5" shooting guard, they need an active sf with length to back up PP.

Deshawn is BEYOND idiocy.  Love how he thinks that Washington somehow has a rivalry with Cleveland; that's about the same as calling a Boston-Memphis game a "grudge match."

The only reason anyone knows Steveson's name at all is that he talks smack about LeBron, which LeBron is smart enough to basically ignore.

Oh, I get it.  I get that Stevenson is a better defender, better shooter, and plays a position of bigger need.  I would do this deal in a nano-second.

I am not sure I see the "need".  We have Ray, Tony, Daniels, Eddie, Giddons, and Hudson who can all play the 2 as probably their most natural position as does Stevenson.  Scal can play as a 3-4 "tweener" where as Stevenson can play as a 2-3 "tweener".

If the perceived need is more bodies at 3, then this is a different body but not any more.

I don't see any need or benefit to this (yes, I like Scal).  Washington can probably get more for Stevenson than we can offer anyway.  Scal is much more valuable to us than he is going to be to anyone else.

  • Rondo = Good
I'd prefer to keep Scal.  We have enough young 'talent' on this team.
