Knee injuries are not easily recoverable.

This is why he went from the Lottery to the end of the second round.

This is also why we didn't re-sign Powe.

This is also why Brady will never be the same QB.

ACL tears aint nuthin to buck with.

Hmm, I wonder how KG is doing...

i smell pessimism  ;)

I think this very likely spells the end of any realistic hopes for Bill Walker's Celtics career...he was already fighting to get into the rotation, and now he'll be diminished further from another knee injury.

It really sucks for him but I guess part of having an NBA career is being healthy and that apparently isn't in the cards for him.

Yeah, if he comes back a month into the season, it's hard to see how he'll be able to crack the rotation.  Even short of the injury, it would have been tough, but then he'll be dealing with having fewer practices and a rotation that will be pretty well established.  Not that you really could count on anything from him in '09-'10, but this just diminishes his value this season even further.

So, unless they think he's still a great prospect for '10 - '11, this does increase the chance that he'll be the one to go, maybe even more likely than Hudson, if they need a roster spot.

I think this is good news. A torn miniscus is not nearly as serious as a torn ACL or MCL, not to mention micro fracture surgery.  This is a step back, but by no means spells the end of his career with the Celtics.  The kid has tenacity on both sides of the ball. I think he can still contribute to this team, if not this year, certainly next. Silver lining: opportunity for JR G to show what he can do. He should get some decent PT, since I expect us to produce alot of garbage minutes.

Yeah, this really isn't that big of a deal.  We're talking about a guy who even in a 'best case scenario' might've seen 10 minutes per game.  I think what so many people are forgetting is that Marquis and Eddie are going to eat up pretty much all the backup 1-3 minutes in games that matter.  So who the other backup win happens to be really doesn't matter right now.  The team will be just fine with Scal, TA, or J.R. filling this role.

Also, this could work out for the best for the C's.  If this season is a wash for Walker, the C's will be able to pick him up for cheap next summer.  Then if he does really emerge, they'll have his Bird Rights.
