The Bobcats Raja Bell continues to be shopped around the league, GM's say. No doubt he'd love to get back to a contender.

COME ON DANNY!!!

I'd think the one guy they'd want in return would be Walker. and i'm not giving up Walker for him. if they'd take Giddens, fine. but Raja's not what he once was.

I'm so upset, I thought this was going to be a post about how we got him.

On the other hand, there's no telling whether Walker will ever be even as good as Bell is right now. I will give them Tony Allen + their pick from Giddens/Walker, if that's going to do it.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Being able to replace Allen with Bell would be amazing for us...I am with the majority of you that I would rather they take Giddens over Walker, but being able to upgrade our roster using two pieces we really have no use for would be ideal...so ideal, I don't see it happening. I still think Allen has something to offer in the NBA, I just think it's not going to be in Boston- too much of a mental block. It's hard to get over that after it's started- just ask Rick Ankiel and Chuck Knoblauch...

i think you're overestimating what raja still has in the tank -- he's not what he once was on the defensive end. i'd be happy to have him, but i'm of the mind that walker has a much higher ceiling than giddens. i think the trade is scal, giddens and a 2nd round pick -- saves em some $$$ and gives em another prospect at SG. i don't see larry brown taking tony allen.

I'd rather the C's go for Steven Jackson, but not sure if they can swing that one, if not, I'd take Raja in a heartbeat.

i am just curious. what about walker makes him worth keeping over bell? and i guess the deeper question would be what makes walker worth keeping at all?

i have NOT seen much of walker at all, so these are real questions. what little i saw showed a guy who can jump rather high. i did not see anything approaching a nba offense. yes, yes...he is young, etc. but then, so are a number of other players who seem to score better.

what makes walker so special?

as i said, i only saw a little of him in action, but would like to know exactly why he would be a better option than bell this year.

edit to add some stats..

bell last season
35 min
13 pts
4 rbd
2.5 asst
44% FG
39.6% 3 pts

not bad, not great. i doubt walker would put those numbers up in those minutes.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

No, I think you're overestimating "tremendous upside potential".

Players who can play show this early on, especially those with a couple of years of college seasoning (e.g. West, Rondo, Gomes). Players with "tremendous upside potential" are typically a waste of space, until everyone figures out you gotta deliver in order to be a NBA player, not just to show "promise" (e.g. Banks, G. Green, Pruitt, or on other teams -- Kwame Brown, Darko, you name it).

I am sure Ainge will dispose of Giddens and/or Walker in the blink of an eye if the right rotation player becomes available, and Bell is definitely one of them.
