Timberwolves general manager David Kahn will look to trade guard Antonio Daniels to a club that can assure him significant playing time.

Kahn, in a conversation with the Star Tribune, said that he will look to deal Daniels for a similar expiring contract, worth roughly $6.6 million.

do you like Daniels for the backup PG with Hudson??

Scal + Tony Allen/Giddens for Daniels.  I can see that.

No need for Giddens. This trade makes alot of sense for both teams if Minny then buys out Scal for 1.3mil (the vet min) less than his current deal and he then resigns with the Cs. It's essentially Daniels for Tony Allen and $2mil in cash.

Not saying I wouldn't do it if they didn't buy out Scal, but he's useless to that team. Pretty good trade all around if it went down that way.

Scal+TA?  works for the C's.  brings in a more useful player, moves 2 less-than-desired players and frees up a roster spot.

no downside here.

I wouldn't trade TA for Daniels straight up, let alone include Scal (or Scal straight up), and even consider Giddens. Daniels is pretty much crap at the moment.

I think you overestimate TA and underestimate Daniels

yeah, i'd want scal back. and the more i think about it, the more i'm borderline here too... if healthy at least we can stick TA on a guy for defensive purposes.

I'd be on board if it was TA + Scal for Daniels. I would imagine that the T'wolves would waive Scal and we could pick him up if we really wanted to and sign him to the vet min. So it would be a TA for Antonio Daniels trade basically. Also it would help at the trade deadline because it would make the Celtics be able to match 800K more than if they keep TA/Scal. Basketball wise, Antonio Daniels is a good backup PG for the first half of the year and then we could maybe look to upgrade at the deadline to a team desperate enough to slash 2010 cap.

I was thinking of starting a similar thread with a proposal , what does he make and for how many years?

How so?

Decent PER numbers. He outperformed opposing SGs when he played the 2. He'd be a good backcourt complement to House in that respect.

More importantly, if Daniels didn't shake out during the course of the regular season (trial run), he'd represent a nice expiring contract, larger than what Tony and Scal combined would represent.

Scal would certainly be a buyout candidate in Minnesota, and could return to Boston during the stretch run after having rested up during the regular season (a la PJ Brown).

Daniels can't actually be traded until Nov. 9th 2009 if I am not mistaking, because he was just traded.
I am like 99.9% posetive he can't be traded till then.

He can be traded today, if he's the only player Minnesota is trading from their side.
