I really just wanted to be the first to post another Antoine Walker thread today since he's the first topic on Hoopshype Rumors. He said he had been invited to 4 training camps, and I wonder if Boston might be one of them. Here's my view on him..

Why for Boston? He's been here before. He knows the position. He's a fan fav. And we've got the Big 3 to knock sense into him.

Why for #8? He's in debt and will work for the vet min. He's bound to be out of NBA shape so no other team will offer him more than that. Boston would be the best case scenario for him to either fight for backup backup SF minutes and towel waving duties from Scalabrine and now Sheldon Williams.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Gerald is still a free agent, too, I think.  :P

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
LaFrenz has been here before too. Should we invite him too?
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

I've been away (regularly) for about a year, and while SO much has changed here, it warmed my heart to see that the "Bring Back 'Toine" threads were still going strong! It seems there is no giving up to the the heart of a true "die-hard" fan, and while I still find Antoine an absurd consideration, (even more so than 2 years ago), I truly admire, (and am, in fact, astonished by), the persistence of those who are still transfixed by the memory of the "Walker Wiggle" ... keep fanning those flames, guys! (I hope Antoine is smart enough to retire to the Boston area ... he'll never have to pay for anything again, lol!)

Just bumped into Antoine Walker at the MGM, says he is talking to four teams and plans on being in a camp on a non-guaranteed deal next week.

I'm not surprised.

finally, the solution for backup PG!  :P haha. I'd take him just for his competitive heart...it'd be so cool to see him get a minimum contract with us for one year, just so he can win a championship with us and retire as a Celtic.

Wow.  How could anyone want Toine?  He stopped being an effective player a few years ago.

I've definitely warmed up to Scal over the years, like most, but I think, one on one, I might be able to take Scal. He is by far most effective in a team scheme on offense and defense. No matter how out of shape Walker is, he has to be faster/quicker than Scal.

As for bringing back Antoine, he is getting older, so as the years pass by, so will these threads, but as long as he can still contribute, I would LOVE to have him back. He kept this franchise going at a time we really needed something to cheer for. People will always call him a 'chucker', but for the first half of his career, he really didn't shoot many threes. I love Antoine and wish he never left (especially for LaFrentz and that enormous contract)...

I bumped into Toine too at Caesars Palace over the summer. Didn't realize at the time I was witnessing the scene of the crime.

LOL that's funny, I saw him the other day as well! Antoine's gut bumped into me at the donut shop around the corner...
