First time poster, long time reader and just wanted to see what you all thought.  I was watching Mohegan Sun Sports Tonight and Gary Tanguay said on the show and wrote on his blog that he thinks that Celts could make a run at D-Wade next year.

Your thoughts?

We don't have any room under the cap even if Ray just walks. We could do a sign and trade, but I doubt Miami would send him anywhere within the EC.

BS, its probably nonsense to waste time.

I really doubt Danny would be willing to sacrifice losing (Rondo & Ray) for a .0001% to land Wade. Especially Rondo, We finally have a franchise Point-Guard to build around.

Welcome to the forums, now you've also got a Tommy Point.

I'd love to see Wade in Green but it's not very likely. I wouldn't give up Rondo for anyone, except maybe LeBron James.

"Maybe"? For Lebron James I would give half of Celtics fantastic roster.

You wouldn't give up Rondo for D Wade?   I would strongly consider giving up Rondo and Ray right now as much as I love them for Wade right now.

and that will be dumb as hell, as you can see LeCrab can't win, so how can you say you'll gave half roster of championship team

Don't agree.   We would still have KG and Paul and that is better than anyone on the Cavs after Lebron.   Of course we would then have a hole at PG and Danny would have to get creative to fill that slot but he wouldn't have to be a near all star if we grabbed a top 3 player in Wade.  Also if a trade like this ever materialized I bet there is a decent chance Ray would be bought out by midseason.   This is just all fantasy speak though as I don't think Miami would pull the trigger on a trade like this.  I'm fine with the team as is right now but again if you have a chance to grab a top 3 player I don't know how you pass a deal like that up.

I mean the guy above you, who said that he'll gave half of our fantastic roster for James, let me tell you something: "If something work, don't brake it" LeCrab can't win, but we can, and he'll trade this for someone who can't => dumb as hell

my thinking has always been, what if we let rondo test free agency next year as a restricted free agent and match whatever offers he gets...let ray go...pierce opts out of his contract and takes considerably less money so that we can offer Wade money and stay competitive with the best back court in the league after paul and KG are retired.

if paul wants to go down in Celtics franchise history as an even bigger celt's great than he already is, the selfless act of taking less money to keep this team competitive would be something else.

and imagine if ray took midlevel type money to come off the bench? yeah, i'm just having fun dreaming haha...

Good thing we didn't make the trade for KG, giving up half our roster and a young big man for him.

Kevin "Garnnot" just can't win.

Wait....... ::)

Well, at least he acknowledged (or Jackie MacMullen pointed out to him) that the only way it could happen would be in a sign and trade, that would include Rondo.

But as always, Tanguay either has no idea of what he is talking about and has no grasp on the salary cap, or he thinks his readers/viewers will believe anything (which may be the case).

Either way, it is just him trying to bring some more attention to himself.

Two realistic destinations for DWade: Miami or Chicago.  That's about it.

Would we trade KG, RA, PP for Wade and Lebron  ???

Sounds like an English essay examination to me. I'll get back to you on this one.
