I'd rather see Boise State and TCU play schools from the Big Six conferences. Seems cheap to have them play each other.

Looks like the alma mater is playing USC in the Emerald Bowl.  Can't say I pictured that at the beginning of the year.

Quote
SAN FRANCISCO -- Southern California will face Boston College in the Emerald Bowl.

The bowl announced Sunday that the Trojans (8-4) will play the Eagles (8-4) on Dec. 26 at AT&T Park in San Francisco. This marks the first time USC has played in the bowl. The Trojans had played in a BCS game the past seven years.

Boston College is making its 11th straight bowl appearance. The Eagles are the first team to play in the Emerald Bowl twice. They beat Colorado State 35-21 in 2003. Boston College is 8-1 in bowl games this decade.

I think the biggest surprise is what the Fiesta Bowl chooses to do.  Pair the two non-BCS schools or go with Iowa and a non-BCS team.

I don't know...  I think a lot of football fans will tune into that game.  I know that with me, the Fiesta Bowl is one of four bowls that I will watch this year (the BCS Championship, the Sugar, the Holiday, and the Fiesta).

People who really follow college football will tune in.  The casual viewer who's attracted to the "name programs" and only tune in on certain occasions, I'm not so sure about.

And the casual viewers are the majority, unfortunately.

So it would've been Cincy-Alabama had Texas lost.  .003 margin between the Bearcats and TCU in the final standings.

  • Thank you Eddie!
BCS= pure capitalism.  The rich guys (power conferences and for some reason ND) try their best to marginalize the little guys (non-BCS conferences) all in the name of the almighty dollar.  It's an insult to Boise fans, TCU fans, and the average college football fan that the BCS doesn't give either a shot at Florida or Ohio State.

It really would've been nice to see TCU-Florida to, at least, be able to gauge where this team (TCU) is.

Regardless of what happens in the Fiesta Bowl, people will be speculating on what-ifs in regards to BCS v. non-BCS which is a real shame.

While I understand their rationale in doing so, I have to admit that it's a bit anti-climactic, and not really fair in the long run ... I love Boise and would really enjoy seeing them take a shot at the big boys.
