Bowman is awesome ... would love to see his home be Gillette someday.
Bowman is slow for a pro safety and bad in coverage. His make up speed is down right pedestrian. I really think his football playing days are over once he graduates.
You're right ... what was I thinking? Everyone knows that speed is what makes a good safety ... guy's a chump.
Hey, don't get me wrong, I love him as a college football safety. But he has shown some serious holes in his coverage game due to a lack of lateral and make up speed. As a run stopping strong safety in college ball, he is good. But his power and speed are all straight ahead and that is suicidal for success at the next level.
Watch the kid Jim Noel next year for BC. He's a local product, a true freshman that got run this year. He's big(6'4" 185), strong and has track star speed. He loves hitting and has great football vision. Over the next 3 years he will become a very very good safety for BC. And the kid, Luke Kuechly, bases his whole game on speed and ball awareness. Over the next three years this BC defense is probably going to be one of the more dominant defenses in the country and I am not even counting a contribution from Herzlich.
Look at their defense and the kids getting run on it now. Here's their official depth chart for this year:
DE 98 Alex Albright (6-5, 248, Jr.)
56 Max Holloway (6-2, 242, R-Fr.)
LT
52 Austin Giles (6-3, 278, Sr.)96 Kaleb Ramsey (6-3, 274, So.)
RT 55 Damik Scafe (6-3, 291, Jr.)

WLB 40 Luke Kuechly (6-3, 225, Fr.)
44 Alexander DiSanzo (6-3, 230, R-Fr.)
SS
8 Marcellus Bowman (6-2, 225, Sr.)23 Jim Noel (6-4, 181, Fr.)
FS 45 Wes Davis (6-1, 221, Jr.)
27 Okechukwu Okoroha (6-1, 195, R-Fr.)
FC 9 DeLeon Gause (5-11, 179, Jr.)
4 Donnie Fletcher (6-1, 196, So.)
BC
20 Roderick Rollins (6-0, 189, Sr.)19 Isaac Johnson (6-0, 183, So.)
Of the seniors in red that they are losing, only Bowman is a player of consequence and the others are being replaced by some very promising youth and the Eagles landed a blue chip LB recruit this year already. I think the Eagles defense will shine in the upcoming future.
