Shinskie is forcing it big time ... the defense is coming up big, but Shinskie is choking. Wow ... they can NOT lose Harris!

I think they use the play-action well ... don't know why they don't run it more. Shinskie's skills are perfect for it ... and he's struggling right now.

Saw that coming ... he's forcing it on every pass. Man, sometimes he's so great, and sometimes horrible.

Bowman is slow for a pro safety and bad in coverage. His make up speed is down right pedestrian. I really think his football playing days are over once he graduates.

You're right ... what was I thinking? Everyone knows that speed is what makes a good safety ... guy's a chump.

Hey, don't get me wrong, I love him as a college football safety. But he has shown some serious holes in his coverage game due to a lack of lateral and make up speed. As a run stopping strong safety in college ball, he is good. But his power and speed are all straight ahead and that is suicidal for success at the next level.

Watch the kid Jim Noel next year for BC. He's a local product, a true freshman that got run this year. He's big(6'4" 185), strong and has track star speed. He loves hitting and has great football vision. Over the next 3 years he will become a very very good safety for BC. And the kid, Luke Kuechly, bases his whole game on speed and ball awareness. Over the next three years this BC defense is probably going to be one of the more dominant defenses in the country and I am not even counting a contribution from Herzlich.

Look at their defense and the kids getting run on it now. Here's their official depth chart for this year:

DE 98 Alex Albright (6-5, 248, Jr.)
56 Max Holloway (6-2, 242, R-Fr.)
LT 52 Austin Giles (6-3, 278, Sr.)
96 Kaleb Ramsey (6-3, 274, So.)
RT 55 Damik Scafe (6-3, 291, Jr.)
64 Nick Rossi (6-6, 295, Sr.)
DE 86 Jim Ramella (6-4, 247, Sr.)
47 Brad Newman (6-2, 256, Jr.)
SLB 53 Mike Morrissey (6-2, 219, Jr.)
26 Dominick LeGrande (6-2, 218, So.)
MLB 34 Mike McLaughlin (6-0, 245, Sr.)
50 Will Thompson (6-1, 230, So.)
WLB 40 Luke Kuechly (6-3, 225, Fr.)
44 Alexander DiSanzo (6-3, 230, R-Fr.)
SS 8 Marcellus Bowman (6-2, 225, Sr.)
23 Jim Noel (6-4, 181, Fr.)
FS 45 Wes Davis (6-1, 221, Jr.)
27 Okechukwu Okoroha (6-1, 195, R-Fr.)
FC 9 DeLeon Gause (5-11, 179, Jr.)
4 Donnie Fletcher (6-1, 196, So.)
BC 20 Roderick Rollins (6-0, 189, Sr.)
19 Isaac Johnson (6-0, 183, So.)

Of the seniors in red that they are losing, only Bowman is a player of consequence and the others are being replaced by some very promising youth and the Eagles landed a blue chip LB recruit this year already. I think the Eagles defense will shine in the upcoming future.

Frustrating loss for BC last night.

They definitely had a chance to win that game but shoot themselves in the foot too many times.  Shinske is not the long-term solution at QB for the Eagles.  His football instincts are pretty atriocious.  BC better recruit hard at the QB position.

I thought the defense played alright for the most part although the big play killed them a few times.  Also, they were on the field a long time last night.  That never helps.

Some definite questionable calls out there.  BC got screwed by the fact that the referees made calls on the field in USC's favor that could only be turned by indisputable evidence.  I thought the touch by the USC player could've gone BC's way and I didn't think the USC receiver got a foot inbounds, either.  However, tough calls to overturn.

I agree with Nick that Bowman is not going to be playing on Sundays.  Kuechly is a stud.  Kid has a nose for making the tackle.  Its gonna be great to have him around for the next few years.

This team is young and the defense is only going to improve.  My concern for the future is the offense.  I have no confidence in the QB whatsoever.  They need to improve that.
