Frustrating loss for BC last night.

They definitely had a chance to win that game but shoot themselves in the foot too many times.  Shinske is not the long-term solution at QB for the Eagles.  His football instincts are pretty atriocious.  BC better recruit hard at the QB position.

I thought the defense played alright for the most part although the big play killed them a few times.  Also, they were on the field a long time last night.  That never helps.

Some definite questionable calls out there.  BC got screwed by the fact that the referees made calls on the field in USC's favor that could only be turned by indisputable evidence.  I thought the touch by the USC player could've gone BC's way and I didn't think the USC receiver got a foot inbounds, either.  However, tough calls to overturn.

I agree with Nick that Bowman is not going to be playing on Sundays.  Kuechly is a stud.  Kid has a nose for making the tackle.  Its gonna be great to have him around for the next few years.

This team is young and the defense is only going to improve.  My concern for the future is the offense.  I have no confidence in the QB whatsoever.  They need to improve that.
The Eagles got a letter of commitment from a kid out of California named Rettig. He's big(6'4" 205) and has a rocket arm and familiarity with the pro-style offensive set. But he's at least two years away as he's pretty raw. he is their big recruit at the QB position this year.

I don't know if I can put up with another year of Shinske at the helm.   :P

I don't think anyone said it, but that was cool that Gunnell passed Pete Mitchel for first all time in receiving yards at BC. It kinda shows how BC has changed. I mean a 5th round TE used to be their leading receiver. Not that I didn't love Mitchel. He was way better that year than Kyle Brady and long snapped too, but was underrated like your typical BC player

BC is going to be the Nebraska of the ACC for the next year or two. Great to outstanding defense. Pathetic QB that hurts the offense tremendously.

I agree our QB will be frustrating, however I think Defense probably wont be that great.  We are losing Bowman and Rollins if im correct.  I hope Herzlich can come back but who knows.  And Honestly we will not be able to stop any body with a decent offense as long as Gauze is a starting corner.  He is so awful I cant stand it.  Being a season ticket holder I got to watch him all year.  I would watch him line up 12 yards off every receiver and get picked on all year long.  Luckily watching Claiborne on the Offensive end kept me sane all year because he is soooo entertaining to watch.
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Next year my guess is that the two sophomores will be starting, Johnson and Fletcher. I think both are much better than Gauze.

I hope so on replacing guaze.  Half the time last night you couldnt even see him line up because he was playing so far off the receiver.

BC has three 4 star recruits coming in next year, Rettig, Shakim phillips a WR and an outside LB

Yeah, Phillips is supposed to be a lightning fast WR with good hands. He has possible NFL talent, or so I am told by an ACC SID.

Definitely gonna try my best to make it.  Slammed with weddings back East for 2010 but gonna definitely make the attempt.  Especially knowing that it'll be the last BC-ND game for a while.

Anybody else been following this Mike Leach story that's been going on the last few days?  Texas Tech just fired him "with cause effective immediately".

Pretty crazy stuff that seems to be of the "he said, she said" nature.  One side you have a disgruntled player saying he was treated unfairly and locked in a room after he received a concussion.  Add to that, the player's father happens to be one of the most beloved football players the state of Texas had had and current ESPN broadcaster Craig James.

Then, on the otherside, you have Leach as well as assistants and players who have rushed to his side stating that the player was disgruntled and had shown lack of effort in the past.  Basically, presenting the idea of a player using his famous father's status to cry wolf since things weren't going his way.

What do people think?

Yeah, I have. I think the James incident is being a bit overblown and I think this might be a bit of a case of needing an incident to justify what the college wanted to do. leach had just signed, for what Texas tech considers, a huge contract extension. Yet after another great year Leach was getting a lot of looks from other schools and Leach was very interested. With an $800,000 bonus due tomorrow and the possibility of losing Leach after paying that bonus out, I think Texas Tech used the James incident as justification for a move they wanted to make out of displeasure for leach's supposed lack of loyalty.

Leach has been known to do some.....creative.... forms of motivation and punishment to his players. I don't think he ever put anyone in physical or mental jeopardy, but there will be some stories to come forth about his strange techniques. But the University has known about these for a while.

I know nothing except what I just read and the only thing I can think of is that I find it slightly odd that the school that hired Bobby Knight just fired its football coach who basically put them on the map. There must be some strraaaannngggeee conversations that have taken place in that college president's office the past few years

Anybody else yearning for the "old days" when the majority of bowl games were played on Jan. 1st?  Today we have 5.  That's it.  Pretty disappointing but some entertaing games (plus the Bruins) nonetheless.

Outback Bowl- Northwestern playing on New Years Day looking for a long sought win.

Gator Bowl- Bowden's last game against a pesky West Virginia squad.

Capital One Bowl- Penn St/LSU just isn't really gonna do it for me.

Rose Bowl-  The Granddaddy of them all.  I don't care who's playing in this game, its always a must-see for me.  Definitely pulling for the Ducks, though.

Sugar Bowl- Tebow's last college game.  Will Florida come to play or are they still reeling from that loss to 'Bama?

Im pumped for the last three, I think Penn St LSU is gonna be a great game if Penn ST shows up to play.  Im also pulling for Oregon, and Cinci in the big games.
