If you want to call it that, sure.  It is a double standard.  But I find it is one that works.

I guess my response is, "well, yeah, of course there's a double standard".  It would be a weird blog if people couldn't criticize poor play.

I guess I'm a little confused how somebody who has repeatedly criticized Glen Davis and other public figures is now taking the position that criticism of Celtics players should somehow be off-limits.

Yeah, the man is always keeping the good guy down huh? That Roy Hobbs and his group of cronies is responsible for a lot of the way the world is the way it is. Especially the part where Tony Allen can't dribble without turning the ball over, where he falls for even the slightest ball fake, and where he is just the type of player that can suffer a near career ending injury on a dunk after a play had been called dead.

they have no "evil agenda" - in fact, they are doing their best to promote good community here

I can't sit here and claim that anyone is perfect, least of all me, but we intend to be as civil as we can and provide a good example of how to act towards each other

please treat everyone with respect, including the mods - that is all I ask

Why are you guys discussing this with rutzan? All he ever does on this blog is to passively aggressively try to stir up trouble and bait responses out of people. The hypocrisy issuing from his typing right now is unbelievable as he is the same poster who tried to claim the Democratic party was the equal of the Nazis in Germany during WWII!

By his logic it's disrespectful to call Tony Allen's play "Good Tony" and "Bad Tony" are say he has a low basketball IQ but that it's completely respectful to say that the people running the Democratic party in the USA are Nazis. Why even talk to a person with such warped points of views who clearly has an agenda to stir up problems?

Just to jump in here, I think you misread what Rutzan was trying to quote as something he wrote, when it was actually a little of IP's sarcasm.  I just fixed the post, so the quotes show up.

Well, again, I think you are misreading the rules.  The rules are that we need to be respectful to all other members of the site.  However, we do not extend those same rules to members of the Celtics.  While we do require a certain level of decorum (OK, I have no idea if I actually used that word correctly), we do not expect our posters to show the same respect to public figures that are being discussed. 

Whether it is Tiger Woods, Paul Pierce, or Tony Allen, they can be discussed openly.  If you do not understand why this is the case at this point, I am afraid you may never understand, so I would recommend just taking it for what it is, and moving on. 

We certainly understand your criticism, but we simply disagree with it, as a way to run this site.
