Andrew Walter just got released per Tanguay on the Sports Hub.

So either Hoyer gets the backup job or Feeley comes to New England.

Wow, didn't expect that one.

I think its gotta mean that there is another vet headed to Foxboro.  No way does BB start the season with Brady, Hoyer, (Edelman).  That is paper thin.

Though, would something like this mean that BB has a lot of faith in Hoyer? I mean, we all pretty much knew what we were getting with Walter. He was a 5 year vet. Hoyer remaining is surprising though.

From what I heard AJ feely is a name being tossed around.  Mainly because the pats and Eagles trade alot, the Eagles have Vick, and need a TE, the pats have extra TE's and need Feely
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

So the thinking is Alex Smith for AJ Feeley?  i don't know much about Feeley but if it helps both teams... makes sense.

Or Watson... But I too do think that AJ Feeley will be coming here for a TE.

Feeley for Watson is plausible.  I wouldn't put it past Belichick to be making a play for everyone's favorite dog lover, either.

Or Jeff Garcia. Or one of Cleveland's quarterbacks.

But IMHO Hoyer won the backup job, so you are talking about a #3.  I bet in a pinch Welker could take some snaps, or Edelman.

Watson leaving may be the right move for the Pats, but I'll be sad about that.  I've never been as influenced by 1 play as I was by Watson's play on Champ Bailey in that playoff game.  We lost the game, but had the ball somehow bounced in play, or had Denver not scored and the Pats pulled out that game, Watson's play would be thought of as the greatest pure effort play in the history of the NFL.

If I knew how to post a link, I'd do it -- but you all know the play.

i still think that should have been called a touchback

Yes, it means Stephon has changed his name to Bart, and Bart Starbury is going to be Tom Brady's new backup.  That'll show those Celtics!

Just get Garcia. All the guy does is win. He was great a few years ago when Mcnabb went down for Philadelphia. He dealt with Owens (took much more abuse than Romo) back in SF, so we know he can take the ego of Moss (which isn't all that bad now) and the weight of a playoff push. Feely is a bum who has a sub 70 QB rating for his career and has thrown for more picks than TDs.

The C's can get by without another pg much better than the Pats could without another qb.
