Quick answers

1)  HS Physics.  10th, 11th and 12th graders.

2)  Probably few to no Celtics fans since I am in VA

3)  I am not keeping track of TPs I give.  I will have students track their own.

4)  I will give them for good answers, taking chances in class, good lab work, helpful behavior, good tests, showing improvement in the subject and anything else that fit my fancy of that day.

I plan to find a way to give TPs to every one.
What no Kobe Points for the class clowns and troublemakers?? >:( ;D

Good point Nick.  He's probably get for trying to shape opinions with a biased form of positive reinforcement.
Yup

Well if you chose to keep track of them, you can give a "Tommy Award" at the end of the year, just like the real TH.  I think you're missing out :P

Ya know there's many times throughout my day when somebody does something really cool or unexpected (like bring in coffee and donuts for the whole office or whatever) and I saw give that man a Tommy Point.  Then everyone looks at me like I'm crazy cuz nobody has any clue of what I'm talking about.  Maybe I should be giving cdif points.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Those would be called Dino Points or DPs for short. On second thought telling a women she deserves a DP might not be a good idea.

This is positive reinforcement only.

I have something completely different for troublemakers.

I am thinking about them having to explain themselves to Edgar.

tommy points are always a good thing and the act of giving them out to a deserving candidate should never be questioned  ;)

I don't know why, but I really want you to do this.
Does anyone else have a "things I would do to my students if I was a teacher" list?  I've been keeping one since around 7th grade and this idea goes to the top.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
