Update:

A replacement GM is ready to join us. However, in the time it's taken us to find this 20th GM, one of the returning GMs (who is not a Celticsblog member) has expressed to me some reservations about continuing with the league. I am trying to see whether he will indeed continue playing. This means one of two things:

1. I convince our hesitant GM to stay, and the new GM takes over for The Walker Wiggle.

2. The hesitant GM leaves, the new GM takes over for him, and The Walker Wiggle takes one for the team and remains in the league so we can draft.

Regardless of what happens, all signs point to the draft taking place on Monday, Oct 24, at noon Eastern time.

I am sorry that things have taken this long to get going. This has been extremely frustrating for me, and, to be perfectly honest, I am wondering whether I want to go through this as commish again next year. I am hoping that the issues getting things going with the points league are a direct result of the uncertainty of the real NBA season, although the points league has always seemed to me to be a bit of an ugly duckling compared to the "sexier" H2H league. Rest assured, if I do elect to give up my commissioner status, I will try to find someone else to continue running the league.

Thanks for all of your work on both leagues Lucky. I know that the points league is a bit less attractive to some people, but it is the best reflection of how well or poorly a team is run imo, as it takes out all of the luck that the H2H league allows for with the playoffs, so it would be terrible to lose the pts league, I hope it stays for many, many seasons to come, and I think all of the issues this year are lockout related. Heck, I have been hesitant to make some moves myself because I have no idea if some guys will even be back in the NBA or what role some players might have on new teams. Hopefully that will all be over soon.

2. I get that sense too Lucky, but it strikes me as odd... I *LOVE* the points league -- maybe b/c it has the more relaxed feel of the CelticsBlog draft. It seems much easier to wheel-and-deal in the Pts league (i.e. others are willing to trade) than in the h2h. I wish I knew more people outside of Celticsblog who liked Basketball enough to recruit for the league.

The Points league is for those of discerning taste.

It's a very GM heavy league. It's no coincidence that most of the successful GMs are the most active, (trades, trade discussions, draft pick accumulation, waiver wire, etc...)

Some middle of the pack teams made huge moves last season to put themselves in contention this year. They feasted on PP & UF's arms race. The two-three weeks leading up to the trade deadline last season was absolutely insane!

Hopefully, as we add new GMs, they will stick and love the uniqueness of this league.
