If this is all BS and he does sign a one-year deal, I think you should owe all of *US* 10 TP's ;)

at first I assumed it was a player option (if it was I wouldn't have posted anything) it's guaranteed.

anyone who wants in on the trade of 10 tp needs to call me on it and be willing to reciprocate... I'm assuming the bird is in on the bet but anyone else should chime in... it's a deal

I'm in.  Two-year guaranteed (no player option, no team option), you get 10TP's (to your regular handle).  One-year guaranteed, I get 10TP's.  Player option or team option is a push, no TP's either way.

If this ends up being a 2 year deal guaranteed, I don't know what Danny was waiting for, and the more reason not to have made this a sign and trade.

my concern was it was a player option (so I confirmed it wasn't) cause I didn't want him to be able to leave.  I'll try and reconfirm the non team option but the way it was answered I'm 99% it's not with ANY OPTIONS either way ... i'm lookin forward to the tp's :)

I don't want any TP's. I'll just be glad that it's the two year deal that I have been saying it was going to be all along and will reward either this handle or your regular one(Just PM me when it becomes official. I promise I will never reveal your ID) with the promised 10 TP's.

I'm sorry but Daniels always wanted to come here and it just made zero business sense to me that the Celtics would allow for ANYTHING less than a two year full LLE deal when the are sitting in the driver's seat. Daniels has just never shown the consistency in putting up numbers that warrants money or contracts that are much larger than those of Anthony Parker, Jamario Moon or Dahntay Jones or some of the other 2/3 wing players that got paid this year.

Of course if it's not a 2 year guaranteed deal I will give copious TP's to Fafnir, Budweiser and some of the other guys that said there was no way it could be a two year guaranteed deal.

I'm imagining that Daniels told the C's that he would sign a two- or three-year deal if it was for ~$2.5M - $3.0M per, but that if all they could do was a deal for the LLE he wanted to be a free agent again in twelve months.

Makes at least as much sense that the reason Danny was working the phones so hard was so that he could get Daniels locked up for a couple years, rather than JUST so that he could unload TA or so that he could be nice to Daniels and get him a little bit more $$.

If you're Daniels, you don't WANT to be on a $2M deal for more than a year, do you?  Unless he gets hurt, it's hard to see how he would get less than than in 2010.  He is coming off from a decent-sized contract, this isn't a player coming off a rookie deal who's never gotten paid before.

But I wouldn't rule out him coming back next year.  As an article on ESPN or somewhere said about a month ago, most teams that realize that they're not going to contend don't want to spend money just to win a couple of extra games that won't result in a championship (or even the playoffs in some cases).  So Daniels will really only be limited to contending teams next year if he wants bigger money than the C's can offer.  And at that point, we'll have to see what those teams' financial situations look like.  And in most cases, it won't be much better than what the C's have.

In my opinion next year will be a much better year to be a free-agent. There'll be many teams in good salary positions to afford him, particularly once the Wades, LeBrons, Boshes, etc. are off the market. Once those guys are no longer a possibility, the market should normalize a bit for the average/above average talent.

If Daniels signs a 2 year guaranteed, I think he'll be making a mistake.

Question for Roy: Does this mean we have his bird rights and we can sign him to any contract we want without it biting into our MLE next year? Or is it more like the Eddie House situation where we can offer him something like 125% of his last years value? Or is he just like a normal free agent where he has to meet the cash restrictions.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

We better start searching for next year's PP backup...we're going to need one even more next year.

I'm glad he's finally here ... a bit disappointed that it's for only one year, but then again, if he does poorly, I wouldn't want him around for a second season, so I guess we'll all have to wait and see how he does this season, then deal with next season when it gets here.
