I, sort of, disagree with some of things being said about Flip Murray. I agree with those criticisms being true for most of his career, but I do not think they accurately describe the Flip Murray we saw last season.
Murray put up 12.2ppg in a little over 24 minutes a night, while putting up a true shooting percentage mark of 54.3% which is a solid mark. In the past, Flip had TS% marks of around 48% and was clearly a chucker who didn't help his team. But this wasn't a problem for him last season. Also, Murray has been a solid defender for 3-4 years now.
Now, was last season just a freak event? A career year that will never be approached again? Possibly ... which is why Flip hasn't been signed by anyone, and why I'm only somewhat interested in him ... but if Flip can repeat the season he had last year in Atlanta, well then he's one of the better backup guards in the league.
