Which NBA team's players do we overrate the most? (besides the Celtics)

The draft game we are playing in the fantasy forum got me thinking about this.



Which team has (or had) players that we overrate the most on this site?  (if we get a few good ideas, I can add a poll later)



I nominate the Golden State Warriors.

List of players I think we overrated
1) Matt Barnes
2) Elis
3) Baron Davis
4) Harrington
5) Stephen Jackson
6) Azbuki (not even close is spelling)


I am sure there are others.  So much love is given to these players.  But the best they ever did together was the year they were the 8th seed and were coached into the 2nd round.

Nope.  When they were there, they were not loved at this level.  (in fact Jackson was somewhat unwanted because of his distraction issues)

Well, there's no way to really argue with this point because it's impossible to prove.

I'll say this though, I respected Jackson and Harrington as the years went on and it seemed like the C's played that Pacer team in the playoffs annually.

Golden State is a good option.

I can't think of a lot of good teams to answer your question, but I do think a lot of players get by on reputation, especially on the defensive end.  Some people still see Raja Bell as an excellent defender, when he's really fallen off.  Dahntay Jones is overrated as a defender.  Some folks still call Iverson a good defender, because of his steals.

Also, of course, any team with a lot of former Celtics on it probably has its players a tiny bit overrated.

I think Atlanta is an interestingly rated team. Josh Smith and Mike Bibby are vastly overrated. Johnson is slightly underrated, and Williams is very underrated. Pachulia and Horford are properly rated.

Lebron's supporting cast is consistently underrated.

The Raptors seemed to really underperform last year, so you have to imagine Bosh and Calderon are overrated.

Golden State hands down, though I think they also have a good combination of underrated players. Previously it was Phoenix, can't say that at the moment, though some of their former players are still reaping the benefits.

San Antonio also has a bit of overrated players, particularly that Duncan dude. He's pure trash.

I’ll probably catch some flak for this, but as a team I would nominate is the Portland Trailblazers. Don’t get me wrong, I love them and recognize the individual talent on the team and even covet many of their players.  However, while they are young, talented, and extremely likable (amazing turnaround from the jailblazer days), they are soft as butter.

And for Atlanta I dont know I agree with Josh but Mike bby isnt overrated, he was when in sacramento and the fame travels qith him, but he have done everything right in Atlanta

That's interesting.  A few of the mods were recently talking about how Bibby is pretty *under*-rated, especially on the defensive end.  I think the guy is hated by Celtics fans, but I think he's still an excellent player.
