With the Landlord and probably Baby in the fold, Scal will never see the court..

Maybe Scal is the back up PG, he's been right under our noses all along.

LOL, Seriously Scal will only see the court in the event of a serious injury to a key big, which probably means we're not winning a title anyway. Scal's role is gone..

I don't think that's true.  I think he will see minutes over Williams, and even Davis in certain matchups.  He will also see minutes at SF at times.

He probably will have a lot of DNP's, but will also play a large role in a handful or more games.

Duhon is a very good player and a perfect back-up, so long as he knows his role in the team and doesn't have any qualms about being a back-up.

I'd trade Scal, TA, Walker, Giddens, whatever for Duhon for sure. However i do not want to surrender a 1st round pick. I think we'll want that in the summer of 2011.

(2010 cant be traded, since we already traded the 2009 pick)

We can trade the 2010 pick.  The rule states that you cannot trade your first round pick from two future drafts.  Now that the 2009 draft is passed, we actually can trade the 2010 pick.  Just not for Duhon!

Well if you think you can resign him why not? We don't need it. Our current end of the 1st rounder can't sniff the floor. IT will be years before that pick is ready to contribute. We're trying for a championship here..

I like Duhon's game, but I do not think he would be happy as a backup.  He wants to start.

It is a concern, however I think he can only carry a starter load on a bad team. Maybe his most recent Knicks stint made him realize this..

1. I don't think we can resign him

2. I just don't want to give anything up for him other than garbage like excess pieces like Tony and Scal.  I have a feeling he is a ticking timebomb in the lockerroom.  I have heard a lot of bad things about his off the court behavior, and feel like he isn't a great bet at that cost.  If we are going to take on someone with character issues, they should either be a great bargain based on their talent (Wallace), or a low risk siging where we don't give up assets (like we did with Marbury)

Let's say the Knicks get Sessions and Williams as reported. We can send them Scal, TA, plus a future pick, probably 2010 and get Duhon. Duhon is the perfect back-up point in our system. We don't really need another draft pick on this veteran-heavy team and would really balance our roster. It would look like this:

Perk,KG,Sheed,Baby,Landlord,Swift
Pierce,Ray,Daniels,Walker,Giddens
Rondo,Duhon,House,Hudson

any takers?

I'd do the same deal or similar except with Jared Jeffries.

I don't think the Cs can trade the 2010 pick since they traded the 2009 pick.  Could trade the 2011 pick, I believe.

I like Duhon, but I wouldn't do the trade.  I think expiring contracts like Allen's and Scal's will be valuable, and I think the Cs can find a serviceable enough PG (Cs only need someone who is competent for 5-10 mins a game -- giving up a future 1st rounder seems a steep price to pay for a one year rental of such a player).

I think the rule applies only for future picks, so I think the 2010 one may be considered current, so it can be traded. Not sure though. Maybe if it's on draft night. Too lazy to look up the specifics at the moment.

In any case, I think it would be wiser in the long run to sign a player like Anthony Carter to the LLE (or has he been signed?) or a player like Lue or Knight to the vet min (even though they are not that popular on this board).

I would take Brevin Knight over Duhon any day. Duhon got a nicer contract to be the starter pg for NYC, and he hasn't panned out as well as they hoped. But also, I would not trade all of our trade chips for 1 BACKUP pg. I like Scal now as a filler for SF,PF, C when needed. SO YES, bring me Brevin Knight. The guy has a nonstop mid range game, plays defense, and has the pass first mentality. I actually looked at him for a backup PG 3 years ago when KG and Ray were brought in and the championship team was being put together.
Can't stop, Rondo!

Duhon would be a great back up PG. Good post idea.

Is Jannero Pargo still available?  Is he still playing in Europe?  He would be a great pickup for the LLE...

Actually, just to turn it around some, I would trade Tony Allen and Eddie House to the Knicks for Chris Duhon and one of their 2010 2nd rounders. I think if he was used as the third guard in more of a combo role, he might be happy. Excellent insurance idea and if Lester Hudson is healthy come the deadline, he makes a great trade chip for us. We will still have Daniels at that point as well.

Not a bad idea.  I would really miss House though, but Duhon would be an upgrade at the point, and can hit the 3 (I just worry that Duhon wouldn't be enough of a team player and wouldn't be tough enough).
