Nice pickup. I wonder if this means "see ya Baby", "see ya Swifty" or if it's one of those unguaranteed deals...

I think this is Leon Powe backfill

Exactly what I thought. I think it's a good signing. I like Leon a lot, got a lot of love for him and I wish him well.

According to Spears and Woj of Yahoo!, the Celtics have signed Sheldon Wiliams to a 1 year deal worth the veterans minimum.

Sheldon Williams is a 6'9 PF, 250lbs

He averaged around 4pts 3rbs in 45 games with the Kings and the Hawks last year.

Stats /40
Pts: 14.5
Rbs: 12
Asts: .9

---

Personally, I think he rebounds pretty well. His FG% is low, though has a high true shooting% due to him getting to the line a lot and having a good FT%. However, for a guy who doesn't play that much, he has a pretty high TO rate.

TBH, I feel like he's a healthier though slightly less productive Leon Powe. I think it at least it shores up the backup PF spot and some added insurance in case we don't keep baby.

Now we can focus purely on the PG position.

Can we just re-sign Leon Powe instead?

He just had microfracture surgery man. We need someone who can play THIS YEAR.

I remember in our old celebrity look-a-like thread someone posted this and I thought it was hilarious, and now seems like the perfect time to steal it.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I didn't follow Shelden Williams during his Duke days; I'm interested to hear what you all think of his play in the NBA/College/everywhere :)
I remember that Hawks fans didn't seem very pleased that he was drafted with the 5th pick that year.

What I like is:

1) This looks better than the POB signing, and it's only one year. Better than POB!

would prefer Leon, but I guess I can't complain too much until I see him play.

I agree that this can't replace Baby. He needs to solidify the more substantial big man role that is still open even with Sheldon.

Williams isn't quite as good as Powe, but he has a similar career rebound rate:

this is awful. anytime you sign a duke player, it is a terrible thing. like most duke players, he cannot play out of the little coach K cocoon and has been a colossal bust in the pros. we say no to leon powe and bring in this lazy clown? what a joke. this is a terrible signing.
