BOS Trades (salary out - 5.825mil):

Baby signed for 5mil for 3 years
TA (2.5mil, 1 year)
Pruitt (825k option, 1 year)
2010 2nd Round Pick

BOS receives (salary coming in - 6.14mil):

Daniels signed for 2.575 mil for 2 years
Dooling (3.564mil, 2 year)
Ridiculously protected 2nd round pick (never received)

NJ trades (salary out - 5.624mil):

Hayes (2.06, 1 year)
Dooling (3.564mil, 2 year)

NJ receives (salary in - 5mil):

Baby signed for 5 mil for 3 years

Indy trades (salary out - 2.575mil):

Daniels signed for 2.575 mil for 2 years

Indy receives (salary in - 2.06mil):

Hayes (2.06, 1 year)

Memphis trades (salary out - 0):

Ridiculously protected 2nd round pick (never sent to Boston)

Memphis receives (salary in - 3.55mil):

TA (2.5, 1 year)
Pruitt (825k option, 1 year)
Cs 2010 2nd round pick
Cash to pay for TA's salary

This should work under both cap and BYC rules.

Memphis cuts Pruitt before his deal becomes guaranteed, and receive TA to back up Mayo for free.

NJ gets Baby for Hayes and Dooling and opens up a roster spot in the process.

Boston deals Baby, scraps and a pick for Daniels and Dooling.

Indy gets Hayes for Daniels.

While complicated this works pretty well for all involved.

Is Daniels really worth BBaby? Thats pretty much what we get in this deal. Dooling is garbage. I rather just keep BBaby. No one is going to give BBaby big money so we'll get him relatively cheap.

Dooling would be the best back-up PG we've had on this incarnation of the team -- that includes Cassell.

We then go out and signed Diogu or Powe.

I think Dooling would useful for our backup PG situation.

I don't think any team wants to sign and trade BBD for 15 million though.

This doesn't make sense. We need a big man in return if we trade away BBD.

Why can't we just sign one? We'll still have the LLE.

Same deal as Maxiell.

Maxiell's deal was a mistake. Plus he's better at the main skill of the PF position than BBD probably ever will be, rebounding.

Fine -- the numbers can be adjusted down, it has little to do with the trade.

It's important for getting NJ to participate.

I think Memphis would need something other than a second round pick and cash to jump in and absorb salary.

I agree. Dooling would be a great backup PG for us. He shot 42% from three last year, and played big minutes for NJ averaging about 10ppg 4apg (essential Pruitts summer league stats, haha) albeit that was a career year for him, but everyone on NJ just raved about what a stablizing force he was for them last season. I followed him closely as he was an add/drop on my fantasy team several times last season, so I was always keeping tabs.

Yes, NJ need to participate. Just run the numbers. It could be 4.5, or potentially less.

I hear you on Memphis, but they're highly thin at guard and TA remains a good defender with some offensive potential. a free SG of that nature could interest our old friend Mr. Wallace.

Since we can sign Daniels for the LLE and not give up anyone, you're essentially trading Baby for Dooling and the right to keep the LLE. This is not a good deal. Baby is worth a lot more than Doolng. But, you get a TP for doing all the math on this trade.

Thanks for the TP, but you're in err, my friend. You're trading Baby for Dooling and whoever you sign with the LLE you didn't have to spend on Daniels. Maybe it's Joe Smith, maybe it's Ike Diogu, maybe it's Iverson, maybe it's Bruce Bowen, etc etc etc....

Somehow I don't think Iverson is signing for the LLE or coming off the bench
