Ok, Celticsblog general malcontent and Houston's GM raising the curtain on the '09-'10 Rockets. Darkhorse contender in an underrated conference? I like to think so.

PF Anthony Randolph/ DeJuan Blair/ Earl Clark
SF Grant Hill/ Andres Nocioni/ DaJuan Summers
C Chris Bosh/ David Andersen/ Jonas Jerebeko
SG Joe Johnson/ Bobby Jackson/ Marcus Thornton
PG Monta Ellis/ D.J. Augustin/ Mike Taylor

IR Leon Powe

Because I know Rockets' intention to start Bosh at center is unpopular with some of the board's purists, also please indulge this pitch: Chris filled fully half of the Raptors center minutes last season, out-scored and out-rebounded opposing centers, drew twice the number of fouls, and posted a +6.5 PER differential. He’s 6th in the NBA in rebounding, despite concerns about his build, and in Beijing led the US Men’s team in boards.

Also worth mentioning that 20 year old Anthony Randolph is 6’11” (...and a ½) and added another 10 pounds of muscle this offseason. So Rockets don't lack for height or length just girth. (And, yes, little conventional back to the basket scoring, but that’s a lost art anyway, right?)

A pretty good squad but your bench needs work. And I think you have guys that play out of their positions. I'm not convinced that Monta Ellis can play the point guard position and Bosh is obviously not a center. Other than that, a good team you got there.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

I think between the 5 of them, 2 will make me look really smart. But who knows. If we were actually playing this out and I could tell a coach what to do, I'd tell him to give 2 or 3 different guys 15 mins each night, don't play them all 2 mins a night. They all have potential, its worth a loss or two early to weed out the ones that are really worth it.

I like this approach. Of the crop, I'm going to put my money on Ibaka, though he'll probably only wow crowds occasionally this year, much like DeAndre Jordan last season. Jason Smith was another big that I was watching fall.

PG: Derrick Rose/Jarrett Jack/Salim Stoudamire
SG: Richard Hamilton/Willie Green
SF: Andrei Kirilienko/Matt Barnes/Matt Harping
PF: Lamar Odom/Etan Thomas/Shelden Williams
C: Chris Wilcox/DeAndre Jordan/Reggie Evans

I really like my team. We have a future superstar running the point guard position in Derrick Rose. He's still young but is a win now point guard. Richard Hamilton has years of playoff experience under his belt, with one championship ring and multiples Conference finals appearances. Andrei Kirilienko and Lamar Odom plays the three and four but they can play both positions so it gives us flexibility at the small and power forward position. Chris Wilcox doesn't put up big numbers but he can get the job done. I'm really confident in our bench. Jarrett Jack and Willie Green are starters in real life and are great role players. Matt Barnes is a great swing to have off the bench, he can handle the ball, play solid defense, plays both forward positions when needed, and can occasionally hit the 3 ball. We have Etan Thomas as the backup 4, he doesn't rack up the points but he plays really good defense, and we need a big off the bench that can play D. Although really young, we like DeAndre Jordan. He's enterting his 2nd year and he can only get better.

This team has a very high chance at winning the division and could go far in the playoffs.

I like the team, a lot of likeable guys on that roster...

that said, one weakness i see is 3pt shooting.  Derrick Rose is still developing that shot, Rip doesn't take many, and while Kirilenko and Odom are capable they're much better off when their within the arc rather then beyond it.  I'd consider starting Barnes and bringing Kirilenko off the bench...

Well I disagree about Bosh (predictably) considering how many minutes he played out of position last year, and how well he acquitted himself. Specific concerns?

I agree on Ellis, but I felt comfortable drafting the combo guard, and BPA, because I'm pairing him with Joe Johnson in the backcourt. J.J. will be our primary playmaker, much as he was with Atlanta (He led that team in assists, not Bibby. 5.8 assists per game, good for 24th best in the league, meaning ahead of a number of other team's starting point guards.) And in my opinion Grant Hill remains one of the best "point forwards" in the league. So I've certainly tried to free Ellis up to do what he does best, push the pace and score (with tremendous efficiency).

Mind if I ask about my bench? I guess my first argument would be that my candidates for sixth man, Augustin in the backcourt and Nocioni in the frontcourt, could be starters elsewhere. (And have been starters before.)

backup big: haddadi

wait I forgot that was the bench of my championship team.....

Delonte and Gomes both show capable starters in this league
with manu leadership they can be a very versatile team
with defense hustle and slashing
Brad miller is a tough man and Turiaf is even more tough
difficult big rotation if u add a good backup in haddadi
who starts receiving minutes in this league

for the ones worried about our injuries...deep team
18 players on tryouts right now fighting for 15 spots.
and 3 overseas.

I think the idea of putting Bosh at center is an interesting one (WW and I have talked in the chat about this....)

the rest of your roster shows you're willing to commit to that philosophy, so i'd have to at least entertain the notion.

It will all come down to matchups for you in the playoffs, IMO

Unlike other GMs who state here :

"wow! look at our team"

or

"We like our team..."

The ORLANDO MAGICS have decided that we hate our team and are considering demoting them to the D-League... Stay tuned to see how this all plays out :(

BTW, that is general joking around...not targeted at any one GM... eveyone's AMPED! on their own team.

I would like your team better if you started D.J. Augustin at PG and used Ellis as the scoring machine he is off the bench.

What will stop your team is your big man rotation.  Love Bosh, but not as a C and biggest man on the team.

Your PFs are to much of an NBA unknown to win in voting.

I am curious to see who you waive to get to 15 men.

Really like your backcourt.

I think the C position isn't strong enough to make the playoffs.  (with the smaller PFs/SF you are using)

3 point shooting is also going to hurt your spacing for Rip.

KG was the MVP as the number one guy

But its obvious that he isn't the MVP player he once was anymore.

Maybe not that he once was, but throughout the first half of the 2008 season, he was a leading contender for MVP.  He still finished in the top five, I believe.

The Nuggets in it's post draft/pre trade form.

PG  Conley   Foye   M. Collins
SG  Pietrus  Azubuike
SF  J Green   B. Wright  Gist
PF  Haslem    Love     superSub Scali
C   Oden       Boone   Dwayne Jones

Inj/trade bait Ming.   Key to adding offensive threat in the future.

Like said before, plenty of positions to be won.  A lot of linup combos to try out.

Bulls:

Chris Paul, Pau Gasol, Kevin Martin, Al Horford, Raja Bell, Ryan Anderson, Austin Daye, Hilton Armstrong, James Johnson, Chase Buddinger, Robert Swift, Brian Cardinal, Lester Hudson

Very good starting lineup, although Bell and arguably one of Pau / Horford are playing outside of their best position.

Your bench is terrible.  It's quite possibly the worst bench I've seen, either in this game or in reality.  You're going to be giving up huge leads when your bench comes in, and you're going to burn out your starters as you play them too many minutes.
