I'd now like to open up the floor for wild and realistic speculation to why the deal is not done yet.  Obviously, they are still trying to work a sign and trade, but what is the hold up?

Is there a third team involved?  Is there a lack of consensus on who is being traded? Are players being added.  All thoughts realistic and profoundly unlikely are welcome!?

Maybe they can't actually find a consensus on who is being traded and Pacers rediscovered their interest in Daniels and not willing to let him walk free.

Just like you, the longer the wait the more uneasy I become.
Anything is possible!!!

pretty sure Daniels is unrestricted....don't think IND has much say in the matter.

He is unrestricted. Marc Spears is reporting that the deal will likely be settled this week. Daniels will be a Celtic either by the LLE or a sign and trade according to every report we've had.

2 things

1.I dont want to give up ALL of our trade assets for 1 backup SG/SF

2.I dont want to sign him to the Biannual exception. B/c it can be used to get a better more experienced vet instead of a completely washed up vet or inexperienced rookie.

IF, Marbury isnt coming back, then looking at a S/t of Tinsley with Daniels for Scal, Tony Allen, and Pruitt would be awesome.
Resign Powe and BBD. Offseason COMPLETE..ok..sign another big like Ben Wallace or Raef Lafrentz

Rondo, Tinsley
Ray, House, Giddens
Pierce, Daniels, Walker
KG, Powe
Perk, Sheed, Free Agent
Can't stop, Rondo!

i would definitely like this settled. Daniels isn't my #1 choice for a wing, but I'd like to know if we actually are going that direction or not and if we are giving something up to get him.

if we are looking to do a S&T to get a higher salary than the LLE, I'd rather do that to land Warrick. I think he would be great in the SF/PF role and let JR or Walker get time at SG.

bench:

House
JR/Walker
Warrick
Baby
Sheed

that would be an insane bench. and if Mar wants in, then that solves worries about an injury to Rondo...

anyway, I'd like to know one way or the other on Daniels just so it's settled.

We could possibly be looking at a frontcourt of KG, Perk, Sheed, and BBD.... LaFrentz is perfect as the 5th big man. Esspecially since it'd be at the minimum and could be replaced by Powe at the halfway point.

No, this is a good idea.  We can then use his contract to trade for Sebastian Telfair.  I hear he's the point guard of the future.

We should trade for the younger Telfair, i hear he has more upside... too bad he's only in 9th grade.

Previous post: Marc Spears is reporting that the deal will likely be settled this week

It's now Saturday morning. Is "this week" referring to Friday (yesterday), end of the weekend, a week after the report?????

Like others, the longer this goes on the more uneasy I become. We need to settle this so we can move on to other needs such as BBD, backup PG, and anything else. The longer we wait on Daniels, other free agents have a better chance to sign with another team including LAL, CLE, ORL.

Maybe Warrick becoming available has lead to reexploration of other scenarios.  He seems like the only surprise this week, that could trigger further thinking.

I don't know, but I start to believe that Daniels isn't coming here after all.

Why would you think that? We've heard nothing from either the Pacers/Celtics/Daniels camps that indicate that the deal won't happen.
