Hum... I'm glad with our Daniels signing (well, if he signs someday... ::)) but I can't help thinking Danny should have done the same thing as the Cavs, offering Moon a contract to see if Miami would match. I wouldn't have cost him anything just to try and maybe we coul have landed Moon.

Yes, it would've tied up the Celts' LLE for a week. So they might've lost on Moon and not been able to offer something to Daniels.

Now we can enjoy Pierce destroying him.

The Shaq signing didn't scare me or bother me. Certainly Parker isn't a big deal. And while I don't think that Moon is a particularly special or valuable individual player, his addition to the Cavs pushes their TEAM up a notch or two for me. Rather than LeBron and a bunch of scrubs (still love you, Delonte!), the Cavs now look like a real basketball team. I still don't think they have enough talent surrounding LeBron, but I'm a little more intimidated by the Cavs now than I was before Moon signed.

EDIT: ...but I still like Boston against this new Cavs lineup.

I would have preferred Moon to Daniels based on the fact Daniels gets injured a lot and the fact that Moon can play the 3.

Am I the only one that thinks the Cavs plan on using Lebron as a power forward next season?

How much money did the Cavs offer Moon?

It seams like the Cavs have done some improving. But they have the same fundamental problems. Without James, this is a lottery team. The drop off in talent is that big. If James were out for a full season, this team would be lucky to get 35 wins.

Shaq is old. He and Williams have a very long distance outside shot at being considered an all star.

Right now the Lakers and Celtics have powerhouse rosters. If the top guy goes down, the team still wins 55 games. If the top 2 guys go down, the team should still get close to 50. (this assumes something positive comes of the Daniels / Davis situations)

Daniels was playing the 3 most of the year.

I actually agree with you completely (Cavs are lottery w/o James, etc.). The only thing I'd add is that as long as James stays healthy, the Cavs can get away with a weaker supporting cast than most teams. Last year, their supporting cast was just a little too weak to get to the Finals. But this year, now that they've added Shaq and Moon, you'd have to say that they're a deeper and more talented team. That alone makes them intimidating. Obviously, Boston and Orlando have also improved this offseason, so we'll have to play the games and see what happens...

We couldn't have offered him any more than the LLE, but did we even attempt a sign and trade with TA and company.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale
