A source tells NES247 that Stephon Marbury will be returning to Boston, possibly for the bi-annual exception, before the end of August. Marbury is still playing the waiting game to see what other teams have to offer, but he intends on returning to Boston and Ainge has already given him a contract offer.

Marbury at the LLE.

Daniels in a sign and trade.

Keep Glen Davis.

Wallace at the MLE

If all this happened, it would be an amazing off season for Danny.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

What is NES247, and who are their sources?  They look like a fan blog, is that correct?

If so, I'll wait for Marc Spears.  It doesn't mean it isn't accurate -- blogs have broken news before -- but I'm still a little skeptical.

If this is true, and Marbury has been in the gym getting confidence back in his jumper, I am real happy with this. Nicely done.

This would also insinuate, if true, that a sign and trade for Daniels is a lock. Otherwise there would be no LLE for him to receive.

Yeh, I started reading it a little bit.  I thought it was NECN at first.  Could be a deli guy source.
Yup

Marbury has been showing love from Boston on his Twitter the last few days, saying that the door wasn't closed with the C's... Hopefully the rumor comes true, I would be glad to see Starbury back in Beantown! With Daniels, House, Sheed and BBD our bench would be great.

While I'm OK with House manning the point (since I think Rondo's going to play so many minutes next season it won't matter who the backup is anyway), Marbury would be nice to have.  While I'm usually not one for "second units," since come playoff time teams usually go to 8-9 man rotations anyway, the C's could actually run a "second unit" as good as some bad team's starters if Davis re-signed.

Wallace
Davis
Daniels
House
Marbury

If the C's had that type of depth, they could keep the Big Three at 30 mpg and still push for 70 wins.

Marbury's twitter has a post where he says, in response to is he coming back to Boston "we will see". As of yesterday I think.

Dickerson: On a scale of 1-10 where do you rank May 22nd in terms of importance to this franchise?

Ainge: You talk really loud, you know that?

Hey I'd bring him back. I think he'll get some semblance of his shot back and he knows the system. He can handle the ball at least and handle pressure..

Yeah that would be a pretty [dang] good bench.  Versatile too.  Two guys who can knock down 3's really well.  Two guys who can break down defenses and drive in the paint.  A great passer.  Two good rebounders.  Two guys who can work in the post and all five with competent mid range games.

Wallace seems to be the only one with overall great defensive prowess though (although Davis has shown an ability to be good man to man and has experience in Thibs' system.)  Unless they all really buy into the defensive thing they could be a little bit vulnerable defensively and that would be my only worry.

But I doubt that we will really see that second unit all out there together on the floor at one time (except in blowouts, and even then you would probably see Scals or the whatever young guys we have left after the Daniels sign and trade instead of all these guys.)  I'm sure they will be mixed and matched with the starters so that would probably negate that defensive problem.

I have to say, practices are going to be pretty intense this year as the second unit will really be able to challenge the starters.

As others have said, this may not be true.  But if it is, I'd be really happy with this development.

Yeah, and the Sox had so many quality starting pitchers that they were comfortable sending Arroyo to the Reds for Willy Mo.

True.  But Arroyo ended up sucking after his freak good season, too.  I like depth, I agree.  However, I was simply saying that I don't think backup PG is as key as it was in 2007, when I was blasting Ainge for going into the season with House as the backup PG.

And to Prof. Clutch, I wouldn't worry too much about that "second unit's" defense.  That unit, if it ever happened, would be so much better than any other second unit in the NBA that it wouldn't matter.  Furthermore, if it ever slipped in the game, the C's could simply bring the best starting lineup back into the game.

In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.

I'm not really sure I get the comparison fully although I'm assuming your tone is sarcastic.  Does this mean you are not a fan?  Can you elaborate other than this odd analogy you've selected?
