For me obviously when they say "we have a real good source or whatever" is Marbury, Ainge or some family of him. period.

Marbury is a decent shooter over his career. He's not Ray Allen but he has been able to stick a jumper over his entire career.

I don't see a better alternative than someone already familiar with the team, plays, system, and coaching staff who can play. No we're not getting all-star Marbs but this is a guy who can definately be competent in a back-up role..
Marbury has had a bad shooting percentage most of his career.

NEWSFLASH: Chris Paul and LeBron James to Boston, possibly for supermax contracts, before the end of 2013!

Serously, I could've written that. No source, pure speculation whatsoever. This is just a wild guess, and hey, they can only benefit from it if it becomes reality.

while i welcome marbury back and he wold fill a huge void at point..

Yeah, I'm sure there is a desperate need to fill the 30% FG void....Not to mention that frantic meaningless arm waving and jumping around on defense void.  Not to also mention the narcissism void.

Count me in the puking category.

We have 2 players on our roster who would be much better alternatives both shooting and defensively than Marbury....Not including Daniels.  You could count the better alternatives still looking for work on both hands and both feet.

Why didn't some team in Siberia sign him?

The clown party was Marbury's performance.

Based on what?  The one game he actually showed up for?

that goes both ways though, what are you basing your faith in gabe on? his inability to break into the rotation?

as far as being celtics go, both have showed us little of value.

at least i know marbury could play at an NBA level. whether he can ever get back to that level, i don't know. but if he signs a low money contract (preferable the vet min, but if he gets the LLE we aren't using, so be it) he can be cut from to be a 8-10 mpg backup, given that all the other veteran PG's available are pretty awful at this point, fine by me.

all i know for sure about gabe is he likes to drink and drive and can't put up consistent performances in the NBA summer league after 2 years in the NBDL. Not exactly a ringing endorsement to trust him with any sort of minutes, which the coaching staff clearly don't.

Yeah, getting the best veteran backup PG available would be terrible news, wouldn't it?   ::)
God bless and good night!

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
From a pure talent perspective Marbury would be a good pickup, from a fit perspective not so much. That broken jumper of his needs fixing, and I don't like the idea of filling our team with a bunch of perimeter guys who can't shoot. I don't want to pair bad shooters together, and it would be inevitable if we have 3 bad shooters in our rotation.
