You're right that they don't need to, I just don't think it's a such a huge deal that they did.  Maybe it wasn't absolutely necessary but it wasn't excessive force or anything like that.

This is really too bad though, Antoine was my favorite...he clearly had gambling issues though, I remember hearing about his all-nighters at Mohegan with Michael Jordan (notorious for his major gambling issues) in the late 90s.

Oh yea, I dont think it was excessive force, because they are entitled to do it, I just dont think it was necessary.

was he drinking?  none of us know.

That being said, the perp walk is what the law does to celebs, ask Martha.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

What the hell was he doing at a casino when it was a national story this week that he owed almost a million?  To me that screams gambling problem more than anything.  I hope he can turn himself around before we see him shimmying off to prison.

Did you read the lead story?  He was there at a celebrity gold tournament.

Walker got his due.
No special treatment for celebs.
I know I would have been in cuffs, if I wrote 800,000 in bad checks.
Martha was guilty as well.
His problem appears the same as a lot of young people.
Single parent familys, with a parent not willing to be the bad guy and do their job.
He has a terrible sense of entittlement and now should get everything he deserves.
This is not a victimless crime.
He is appearently a thief, and needs to be treated as so.
With his attitude, he is lucky he had BBall skills, or he might of already been dead.
I cant believe people think that spending more money than you have is some mental disorder, it is simple math.
He knew what he was doing, and made his choices, now he can live the life he has worked so hard to earn.

At least he made bail :

"Walker was released from jail after posting $135,000 cash bail"

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=Av2._TrGAou3lPWmZ8tJS.K8vLYF?slug=ap-antoinewalker-casinodebt&prov=ap&type=lgns

>>> So he wasn't flat-broke like many originally thought.   But I do agree that he has a MAJOR GAMBLING addiction that needs to be addressed.   For god's sake, Toine...You've got a DAUGHTER to take care of!  What's wrong with you???

He definitely needs professional help. No Jokes about 3pt-shooting or shimmying.  This is very serious.  :(

So let me get this straight, dmopower.   Since he "knew what he was doing", you're implying that he purposely wanted to write bad checks and get arrested?  ::)

TP4U PSquared. I know you and I don't see eye to eye on Walker's game but I think we agree that he's a good guy and has a serious problem that needs addressing.

You're right, this isn't a laughing matter. Walker for all his flaws is one of ours and we should be supportive not derisive.

Toine needs help.

I don't know if the gambling in itself is the disorder, but perhaps more of a manifestation of the real mental issue, which is an addictive personality.  It could manifest in alcoholism, drug addiction, or in Toine's case, gambling addiction.

Surprised you don't see this more in pro athletes.  The hyper competitiveness that makes them such great players can also be a hindrance in real life.

Does anyone know what the NBA pension is and when Toine is eligible for it?

So Toine is going to have to play in Europe for a few years now, and move into a smaller mansion, right?

Everybody struggles with something, understanding is fine.
But once you recognize your weaknesses it is YOUR responsability to make the required changes, that will allow you to exist in society, without having a direct negative impact.
Not everyone elses job to keep getting screwed, just because you cant behave.
Let me see in my world, there is accountability.
If we let everything, that anybody has trouble with be accepted we have no civil society.
Yes he knew what he was doing.
If he were a stand up man, he would have turned himself in, and this whole thing would be reading much differently.
Probably made bail without cuffs, and never spent more than an hour at the station, with no witnesses.
rewarding bad behavior, breeds more bad behavior, it is not that complex.

What a wonderful world you live in.   Can I join it?  ::)

You talk about how a person should RECOGNIZE his weaknesses and fix them....But if that person has a problem and is unable to fix them 'cause he DOESN'T SEE THE PROBLEM(much like with Alcoholics), then what?

Walker has a PROBLEM with Gambling.  It's that simple.  Otherwise, he wouldn't have put down about 1 MILLION dollars to play....AT THREE(not ONE!) CASINOS!!  AND HE WAS CAUGHT IN YET *ANOTHER* CASINO!!

"If he were a stand up man, he would've turned himself in...."

>>> If he were THINKING with his Brains and not his wallet, he wouldn't even BE in this situation but that's what happens with COMPULSIVE GAMBLERS.

But now Toine has another problem :

Each Felony charge comes with a potential term of 1 to 4 years in PRISON!!  So he could at least be looking at a 3-year PRISON TERM!!!    :o

This is a disaster of epic proportions for Toine.  I hope his Lawyer comes up with something, 'cause otherwise the only color jersey Toine will be seen next time will be ORANGE with a long Number.
