There is a scenario that worries me.  Miami trades for Boozer and then get Odom.
I wouldn't be concerned about that team. I don't think their supporting cast would be good enough. The Heat wouldn't be a legitimate threat for the title for another year.

The biggest loss is Lee and hedo. Now Carter is a much better player than Hedo. Even in down years, his stats have been pretty great, and when he turns it on (ie any game against toronto), he is still a top guard.

Now the only problem is whether or not Carter can fit the system. Carter's a better shooter (any one whose watched him knows he has the second longest range in the NBA behind Gilbert), it's just his attitude towards the game. I think being on a winning team may change it (like his first 2 years with Jason Kidd). Can he become the facilitator that Hedo was however? We'll see.

Oh, and the Bass + keeping Gortat move makes them very, very deep.

They are deeper up front, but I don't agree that they are a better team with Wince Carter.  Even assuming Carter plays a whole season and is not so much of a primadonna that it harms the team as a whole, Carter does not facilitate like Hido.  If I remember correctly, in the finals game that Orlando won, Hido had about 12 assists.  They need a player in that role, and it is not Lewis.  More, I have not seen enough from Ryan Anderson to believe he is a 6th man on a championship team (at the 2 and 3), and this trade means that Pee-trous (spelling) is starting, which were I an Orlando fan, would frighten me greatly.

I like the Bass signing, but I don't think they are a better team at all.
Nelson is a much better facilitator than Alston though.  A fully healthy Nelson and they have a facilitator from the actual PG position.  Hedo had to do it, because Alston couldn't.

Nelson gets about the same number of assists as Alston, doesn't he? He also took the most shots on the Magic when he played. Adding a shooter like Carter to a team with Lewis, Nelson and a center who complains when he doesn't get enough touches is tricky. Will Nelson manage the situation as well as Rondo? Will Carter sacrifice his game to fit in like the big 3 did? It might work fine but it's not a given.

Whether or not they are a threat, they would make it more of a grind to get through the East in the playoffs.

  • Yup
Odom and Wade did pretty well together pre-Shaq in Wade's rookie season.  I loved that team! (only Heat team I can really say that about)
Yup

Odom's not gonna sign a midlevel deal. If it comes to it, he'll tell the Lakers he'll accept the $9 mil deal, but maybe he asks for it to be two years with a player option for the second year so he can try again next summer. The Lakers will agree.

Unless Portland offers him money, Odom's not going anywhere.
Go Celtics.

Black was asked if talks could resume in the future.

"That's within the realm of possibility," he said.

This isn't a transparent negotiating tool, or anything.
I have to agree with on you on this one. I still think Odom ends up a Laker.

this is extremely good news...unless they S&T Odom for Boozer

And that actually makes zero sense with Gasol so NM

I wouldn't mind that. Boozer almost sucks on defense.
