Report: Lakers pull offer to Odom

Turkgolu a 6'10 guy who can handle the ball shoot the lights out and is clutch and got back an ageing vince carter. I'd prefer the Turk everytime and he was instrumental against the celtics and the Cavs in the playoffs because he was such a mismatch

Alston a starting quality pg

and Battie who at this stage is not a great loss

they get back bass, carter and ryan anderson.

How the hell did they get better? i think these moves are really overhyped

They lost Alston because they believe Jameer will be healthy again, and no sense in paying 6 mill for a PG who will play 10-15 minutes a game.

Ryan Anderson may be the steal. He's got size and shoots lights out. Great for the team.

The biggest loss is Lee and hedo. Now Carter is a much better player than Hedo. Even in down years, his stats have been pretty great, and when he turns it on (ie any game against toronto), he is still a top guard.

Now the only problem is whether or not Carter can fit the system. Carter's a better shooter (any one whose watched him knows he has the second longest range in the NBA behind Gilbert), it's just his attitude towards the game. I think being on a winning team may change it (like his first 2 years with Jason Kidd). Can he become the facilitator that Hedo was however? We'll see.

Oh, and the Bass + keeping Gortat move makes them very, very deep.

It's posturing.  I wouldn't read too much into this.

The only thing that will hold up Odom returning to the Lakers is the ego of Odom.  Otherwise, he's playing for the Lakers next year.

I don't blame his ego though, because there's a difference between someone's ego, and what the market dictate's your ego to be. If Hedo gets a 11mill contract, 10mill for Bargnani, and an 8 year offer for Milsap, I think Odom can fairly say he deserves 9-10 mill especially after his play in the playoffs. He's got a similar skillset to hedo and is as good as if not better than him.

If the rumours are true though, Milsap will be matched, and I believe Portland's next target is Odom since they don't want to match David Lee's price tag (and Odom fits better since he's a 3/4 while Lee is a 4/5)

um the Lakers offered Odom 9 million a year for four years or 10 million a year for three years.  Given his age and the NBA market, I think both of those offers are more than fair.

What is he thinking?  Being offer 9 million a season, to come off the bench, by one of the two location your willing to play, for a team that is the only one bidding close to this price.

i think odom wants to be a starter and a main feature for a team...but if they lose him they wont get boozer..i think boozer is going to miami and then they will resign wade...if LA loses odom they aren't even the best team in the west IMO

They are deeper up front, but I don't agree that they are a better team with Wince Carter.  Even assuming Carter plays a whole season and is not so much of a primadonna that it harms the team as a whole, Carter does not facilitate like Hido.  If I remember correctly, in the finals game that Orlando won, Hido had about 12 assists.  They need a player in that role, and it is not Lewis.  More, I have not seen enough from Ryan Anderson to believe he is a 6th man on a championship team (at the 2 and 3), and this trade means that Pee-trous (spelling) is starting, which were I an Orlando fan, would frighten me greatly. 

I like the Bass signing, but I don't think they are a better team at all.

Howard is a wild card, true, and also true that Carter CAN, he just never HAS (with any consistency), and I am not sold on him starting now.

What do you think the record would be for a Miami team fielding a starting squad of Chalmers, Wade, Odom, Boozer, Jermaine O'Neal?  They wouldn't be incredible, but they would probably be very very good.  With Beasley coming off the bench and of course their number one secret weapon...Mark Blount.
