I see that the 76rs have given up on signing Andre Miller and are now looking to a S&T. What do you think they could get for him? He is reportedly asking for 10 million over 3 years.

Although Miller is a really good point guard who many teams would love to have, I don't know if anyone can pony-up that kind of money for him. He has a few strikes against him like the economy, precedence of what other point guards have been signing for (Kidd and Bibby), and his age (33 years old). Still, like I said, he's a very good point guard and is probably worth more than the MLE, which is what he will have to take if the 76rs can't find a trade partner.

Obviously, he would make a spectacular backup for Rondo. I'm sure other teams could probably top this deal, and I doubt the 76rs would accept anyway, but I'd love to see Miller (S&T for roughly 8 million over 2-3 years) for Baby (S&T 4 million per), Scal (expiring $3,413,793), and JR (team option next year at $1,028,880).

I don't see how Miller gets a 3 yr, $30 mil contract. Who's going to pay him that?

I'd love to have him but its another seemingly impossible situation.  I could imagine him being a good fit next to Eddie and I imagine he could cover the other teams back-up 2 guard (though he's only 6-2.)

I truthfully thought Dallas was gonna grab him, but they went back to overpaying for Kidd instead.  I'd love to see Portland take him.

Meh. Is Miller that much better than Blake? I'd rather see Portland go after Hinrich, as has been the rumor since before the draft. I'm sure the Milsap situation needs to be resolved first.

Steve Blake:

Andre Miller:

Miller can't hit a 3 pointer to save his life, and turns the ball over a lot more, but is a better scorer and rebounder, and has slightly better assist numbers per minute.

I don't think Miller is worth the extra $6 mil a year though.

I personally think he is much better than Blake, and beyond that I was impressed with his ability to step into a young 76's team and lead them cohesively.  I never expected that and I think Portland could really use that.  But yeah, if they can get Hinrich than that would be great for them.

maybe not an extra 6
but his courtvision is very superior to blakes
his knowledge of the game too
he has a couple of clutch appearances too
ha can have a lucky 20 points a game night every other night
hes kind of stronng
and of course the favorite word around... his intangibles.
and hes better to run with our backup rookie 3.
and with a center like oberto  ;D

I think Miller is a very poor fit in Portland because he can't make a jump shot. They need a point guard who can shoot the ball.

I think the only way we could do this would be to swap Perkins for Dalembert in the deal. Philly wants out of that deal badly (2 years $25M remaining).

BOSTON - $14.5M
Perkins ($4.8M)
Scalabrine ($3.4M)
Allen ($2.5M)
House ($2.8M)
Giddens ($1.0M)

PHILLY - $18.1M
Dalembert ($12.1M)
Miller ($6M)

$14.5M x 125% = $18.1M

I'm not sure what I make of that deal, but there it is. We could additional S&T BBD in this deal in place of any of the last 3 guys and it still works cap-wise.

I don't think Miller is worth the extra $6 mil a year though.

Statistics don't tell the whole story. Blake cannot get to the hoop, defend, or even handle the ball all that well. He can knock down open jumpers and run a half-court offense and that's about it.

I think Miller is still an above average starter in this league, while Blake is more of a good role player off the bench.

With that said, I think you're right about the money.

hello l17....just a question.... what do all those numbers mean in your sig?

I heard he and Paul don't get along.
I don't think he'd be my first pick but i wouldn't object trading Scal and TA for him.  It could be possible, it doesn't seem many teams are interested.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

I think he's going to have to settle for probably less than the 25mill that Jason Kidd got.

To be honest, I'd really like to see a S+T with New York if Philly's willing to have Nate as their PG. New York doesn't want to take on salary though.
