Would Mike Gorman have any interest in a midday radio show? I would enjoy him very much, and feel like he has opinions that he keeps to himself that would be very insightful and interesting to listen to.

It's a great thought because he has the skills to keep a show moving forward, he's intelligent and entertaining.  The problem is, is that he lives in NY when not doing Celtics games and that the Celtics schedule is pretty much a full time effort.

Like the thought though!

I'd like to see Sean McDonough back.

The Mike gorman thing got me dreaming of an all celtics talk channel.  How about this....

Heinsohn and Gorman (6-10)

Grande and Max (10-2)

Dickerson and Tanguay (2-6)

and of course Coach Willy (6-12)

I agree with your thoughts on felger.  He is perfect for sports talk, because even if you hate him, you're still going to listen jsut to let him get under your skin

It will be hard to compete with D&C.  Maybe I'm biased but I find Dennis and Callahan hilarious.  I'm sure Toucher and Rich are great on BCN, but does that make them qualified to talk about sports?  It's difficult to blend sports talk and comedy, so best of luck to them.  I just think calling them a funnier/more creative version of D&C is a stretch...those boys are an institution

I don't think Toucher & Rich is the right combination to go up against D&C.

I really think they gotta get sports guys in that morning slot if they want to make any headway.  A lot of people want to hear about sports in the morning but have a problem with D&C because those two are always straying into current events/politics.  Get guys in there who will stay focused on sports and you have a shot.

The day of the rock station is going the way of the dinosaur.  It's all pre-formatted yuckiness now.
Yup

I disagree, but let's say for a second I do agree. I would rather have the pre formatted yuckiness of a current rock station (which we only have one left of, WAAF), than the preformatted yuckiness of talk radio. Also rock stations put together great concerts with several great acts, while sports radio does no such thing.

  • Let's Go Celtics
Hopefully this well EEI on their game.  I will definitely still listen to Dale and Holley, I think they have the best show going.

Other than that I'll probably check out 98.5 to see how it goes.  At least maybe during commercials for one the other one will be on, the commercials on EEI are brutally long.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

I wonder if I can get it in on Cape Cod?  WEEI recently started broadcasting here on 96.3 FM, and that's been nice.
Yup

What about the WhineyAwards  ::)

Maybe I've just been living on Cape Cod for too long, but when I moved from Boston it seemed the rock stations were taking a change for the worse (ZLX & BCN were practically the same).  I used to listen to FNX when I could get it in.

Anyhow, the stations down here are pretty bad, with the exception of WMVY which is album oriented rock.
Yup

I would say ZLX is more classic rock and BCN played more modern stuff. FNX is still the best but I wouldn't say that's rock it's more alternative/indie.
When I'm in the car I have my pre sets that I like to listen to and I will scroll through them looking for my favorite song out of the five stations. Now my five is cut to four and I'm not a happy camper.

I say that both WAAF and WBCN are both significantly worse than they were in the '90s. (and I'm sure its definitely worse from decades prior to that)

WBCN was so predictable the last few years.  Pre-programmed by the suits.  It got away from what made it enjoyable.

I think WAAF has gone the same way to an extent.

When I'm not on satelite, I definitely go WFNX these days although I flip over to WZLX ever now and then for some classic rock.

Well - Felger is 100% off of the EEI website, so now we just have to wait until the 13th to see what happens.

As for the rock stations --

I worked for WBCN for 3 years while it was still relevant - not just good but relevant.  There's a difference, WBOS may play good music, but it's no dj no content format makes it an irrelevant entity.

WBCN had serious talent(both on-air and behind the scenes)through out the station and it produced dam* good content (lunch time concerts, in studio interviews, comedy bits, etc...).  Because of the combo WBCN was relevant not only in Boston, but nationwide.

Once they stopped producing content, changed with the formatting and reduced the impact the team (talent) had, it became a "me too".  Good, but not relevant.  Anyone old enough to remember the Celtics in the 80's knows what I am talking about.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.
