Would Mike Gorman have any interest in a midday radio show? I would enjoy him very much, and feel like he has opinions that he keeps to himself that would be very insightful and interesting to listen to.
"Let me call him," Floyd said.

The man shook his head. "O.J. doesn't give out his cell," he said. "He'll call you."

It's a great thought because he has the skills to keep a show moving forward, he's intelligent and entertaining.  The problem is, is that he lives in NY when not doing Celtics games and that the Celtics schedule is pretty much a full time effort.

Like the thought though!

I'd like to see Sean McDonough back.

I think you're most likely to see CSN New England personalities popping up here and guests.

Since, they will be the flagship carrier of Patriots and Bruins games, I think you'll see a lot of Zolak, Gresh, Bob Beers, and the such popping in from time to time.

I don't know what Reusillo's (sp?) deal is these days but I think he'd be great here to talk C's.  I know, at least in the past, he was relatively blacklisted from WEEI.

I saw Russillo on the Van Pelt show on ESPN radio the other day. I agree that he would be very good.

After that post I wrote this morning, I was reading an article on Bostonsportsmedia.com and it mentioned that Russillo just got a show on ESPN radio so I guess he'd be out.

Too bad because I like his stuff.

I was thinking Russillo too, but he seems to be climbing the espn ladder.  good for him.

That didn't take long.

Quote
Felger is immediately off the WEEI/CSN weekend baseball show. Also this morning when a caller to Dale & Holley mentioned Felger, Holley said “I guarantee you you won’t be hearing Felger this summer on these airwaves.” So it would seem that he’s already out. His last mailbag on WEEI.com mentioned he was taking time off….convenient.

Who replaces Felger on The Baseball Show? Does Mike Mutnansky get another shift? Or does Greg Dickerson get the role? Someone else? Mike Adams?

Update: Felger’s name has already been removed from WEEI.com’s list of columnists. That didn’t take long. Several of his recent columns/mailbags, which as of this morning were listed under the “Most Popular” section, no longer appear there.

Did this whole thing just happen over a cup of coffee or something?  Seems like quite a whirlwind.

The Bruins and most likely the Patriots will be broadcasted on this station as well, so unlike WEEI, it may not be consumed with conservative red sox talk all day.

The Bruins will be on this station?  Is that speculation, or did their deal end with WBZ?

As for Felger and Tanguay getting a show, for one thing, I don't buy it, because I doubt Felger can get out of his WEEI contract that easily...but I could be wrong.  As for whether it would be good...well, I can't stand Tanguay, but I think Felger is one of the best around on Radio.  So it would definitely be interesting.

I would much rather see Felger get his own show, and be paired with a revolving group of non-WEEI sportswriters/analysts.  Guys like Ryan and Maz from the Globe, and maybe they could even entice Gorman to be on there at times.  And then there is the very underappreciated Andy Brickley.

As long as there's no D&C/Ordway-like screaming/ranting over each other and callers, I'll listen. I love Toucher and Rich for the morning drive so I'm glad they're staying, otherwise, I can't say I'll miss BCN for its music, FNX was a better alternative (pun intended).

Too bad the C's will stay on EEI, I get spotty reception at night for some reason.

This new station is CBS owned, just like WBZ TV/Radio.  So now, WBZ will have 1030 on the AM dial and 98.5 on the FM dial.

WBZ AM had the radio rights to the Bruins and the parent corp just slide them over the FM dial.  Much like what Entercom has done with 680 and 850AM

Felger's out at WEEI as of today if the reports are correct.  Tanguay and Felger will each have shows.  Tanguay at mid-day and Felger at afternoon.

Forgive my ignorance but who are Toucher and rich, and why would I want to listen to them talk about sports in the AM.  I'm glad Felger is getting a show, because even depsite his hatred of anything celtics, he is a great journalist and reporter.

This is a good thing overall, as WEEI could always use a little competition.  But, one has to wonder is this just another failed attempt to take a pice of the sports talk radio pie.

I think the one thing that this station has going for it compared to the other failed attempts (1510 The Zone & ESPN890) is that its on FM and will have a signal that actually carries outside Rte. 128.  Not sure if its enough but it should be interesting.

Toucher and Rich currently do the morning show at WBCN. It is a pretty hilarious show, but doesn't center around sports. It can best be described as a tamer version of Opie and Anthony, now on satelite radio. They have a huge following and will bring it with them to this station. They are a younger, funnier, and more creative version of Dennis and Callahan.

The difference that this station has prior to other failed attempts first and foremost is good reception. Past sports stations simply cannot be heard well at all. Since this is on FM radio, that wont be a problem. Also, there are notable writers and personalities joining the staff from the getgo.

Say what you want about Felger, but he had a great show on ESPN890, it just wasn't heard by many. Yeah, a lot of people hate him, but he knows his stuff more than a lot of those guys on the Big Show. He has a pretty big following, and knows a boatload about the Patriots.

I agree with your thoughts on felger.  He is perfect for sports talk, because even if you hate him, you're still going to listen jsut to let him get under your skin

It will be hard to compete with D&C.  Maybe I'm biased but I find Dennis and Callahan hilarious.  I'm sure Toucher and Rich are great on BCN, but does that make them qualified to talk about sports?  It's difficult to blend sports talk and comedy, so best of luck to them.  I just think calling them a funnier/more creative version of D&C is a stretch...those boys are an institution
