Maybe it is not a far fetched idea to think that Danny Ainge could convince Ben Wallace to sign with the Celtics. They did say they were looking for another big off the bench. If it came down to Boston and Detroit it would be interesting to see where he would land.

I'd take him for the minimum and an end-of-the-bench role. He can still rebound and block shots better than most 4th or 5th bigs. Certainly not an above-average player anymore but at least up there with the Patrick O'Bryant / Mikki Moore crowd? Maybe he has a little spark left for one last playoff run before he retires, if he could tap into that for just a few weeks it would be worth it.

The comments section sounds just like Celticsblog in a bring back Antoine or Gerald thread.  A mix of heck no's, yes please, and at the end of the bench only if we can't get anybody else.

"Can't we get Olden Polynice?"

"Is Bison Daly not available or something?"

"HAHAHA....bring back the worm too!!!"

"For the right price as a backup, I'm fine with this. He's still a pretty good interior defender and rebounder..."

"I know it may be funny at this point, but for a cheap price and a body on the bench, I would do it. He is NOT a starter, but he can fill a role if he is healthy enough to go into the season..."

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

It is never funny to make fun of dead people. Bison Dele is dead or did you forget? If you didn't shame on you.

Not sure if you were joking or not, but he was quoting people from the other thread, not saying this himself.

As for Ben Wallace, he might be an interesting option, although we couldn't give him too many minutes (which may be to his benefit) and I would much prefer waiting out the Big Baby situation.   And signing another big man is not a biggest priority at this point.  He had a nice run while it lasted. I think Ben is past being able to really be relied on to contribute.

Of course Sheed is here now so I guess there is always a chance he could be recruited.

I'd rather some team offered something reasonable for Baby already so he signs an offer sheet and we can move on from there quickly. Either we match or not, but at least we'll move on from the situation.

A Wallace brothers reunion? Well if we lose Baby he could be an option but we need a swing and a PG first..

Couldn't agree more. We're treading water, I wanna be swimming for shore. There are coconuts there, I heard.

Yeah, and then the Big Baby situation will take until September. No thanks.

Unfortunately I think we end up treading water with our bench until the trading deadline when we sign cut players and make a 3 or 4 for 2 trade.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Looking at the other options that are available to use for our 4th/5th big...  would you rather have Big Ben on the bench, or Swift?  How much better is Joe Smith?  Ben can still board, not as well as he once did but better than most.  He can still defend.  He's got the bulk to match up with Shaq and he'll use his six fouls more effectively than Mikki did.  'Sheed will still be the primary backup, of course, but I can see 'Sheed spreading the court while Wallace cleans up underneath and helps out on D.

At the veteran minimum, and with no promises of playing time, I'd take Big Ben.  We're going to be really shorthanded up front if we make the trade I want us to make, Scal + Tony + whoever for Nochioni.
