This would be a financial move for the cheap Maloofs, giving them three expirings for the remaining 3 years of Nocioni's contract. This would solidify our bench, fill the glaring hole at backup SF, and add yet another good defender to our team. He's notorious for getting under the skin of opposing teams, sort of like what Posey did for us a couple years ago, and sort of like what Ron Artest is going to do for the Lakers. He would be our anti-Ron when the finals come around (if the Lakers are even there).

I don't think it will happen. Danny doesn't want to committ to taking on that much salary for Nocioni.

I think they drafted his replacement in Omri Casspi, but I'm betting they want him to play at least half a season with Nocioni serving as a mentor.

While the Maloof's are in "the red" financially, I think it makes basketball sense (if that still exists for teams that aren't in the top tier of the league) to monitor the progress of Casspi before dealing Nocioni.

With that being said, based on the Maloof's recent history, Nocioni is probably wearing a different jersey by the end of the summer.

I'd also love if it were green!

I don't believe Casspi is coming over this year, pretty sure he's staying in Israel for one more year at least.

I think a team like Sacramento would view Tony Allen as having "some" value.

Their current roster is constructed similar to ours before the KG/Ray trades and it could be sold that Tony's numbers that year could be replicated on a team in Sacramento's position.

Off the top of my head, I think it's realistic to view him as a viable primary backup SG option behind Kevin Martin and Tyreke Evans.

With this in mind, his contract could be an attractive asset.

I'd especially love it if they'd buy out Scal so we could get him back at the end of the year on a minimum salary.

I would prefer to make a move like this sooner rather than later though - I'd like to give Nocioni the time to get into the system rather than try to rush it through the second half of the season. Plus, I'd like to cut Pierce's minutes back from the jump so he's fresher for the postseason.

Either Nocioni or Fransico Garcia would be a good fit for the Celtics. The argument has already been made for Nocioni but Garcia could backup both Pierce and Allen. He put up solid  numbers last yr. 12 points 3 boards 2 assists 1 steal and 1 block per game. With Martin and Evans at the 2, Garcia looks to be a more likely trade option for Sac.

oh goodness, in no way am i suggesting that nocioni is the same caliber player that gasol is! just that the situation of trading cap relief for a good player is somewhat similar...it's the first comparison that came to mind. I guess you could use the spurs and bucks trade as an example of cap relief as well. semantics haha.
