I would go for that trade, but Sac town wouldn't be getting any value back.  The contract size isn't that much of a necessity for them.
They are in a really bad financial situation in Sacramento. I think at the deadline they'll be looking to dump Nocioni to save long term money if at all possible.
This would be very much like LA dealing with Memphis and getting Pau Gasol for cap relief. A team that is ready to contend deals for one of its trading partner's better players while offering financial relief in return. Anothing thing is that with the salary cap dropping big time next year, any team that isn't currently contending will be looking to drop salary.

Little bit of a stretch, since A) Nocioni isn't nearly the caliber of player that Gasol is and B) Nocioni makes between half of what Gasol makes. But I agree a salary dump makes sense for Sacramento. I'd especially love it if they'd buy out Scal so we could get him back at the end of the year on a minimum salary.

I would prefer to make a move like this sooner rather than later though - I'd like to give Nocioni the time to get into the system rather than try to rush it through the second half of the season. Plus, I'd like to cut Pierce's minutes back from the jump so he's fresher for the postseason.
oh goodness, in no way am i suggesting that nocioni is the same caliber player that gasol is! just that the situation of trading cap relief for a good player is somewhat similar...it's the first comparison that came to mind. I guess you could use the spurs and bucks trade as an example of cap relief as well. semantics haha.

comparing geoff petrie to chris wallace is a major insult to mr. petrie.

haha as crazy as it is, i think chris wallace did the right thing clearing up cap space and getting rid of Pau Gasol. It's not his fault that Gasol quit on him and the rest of the team, and he managed to clear up cap space to re-sign their young guys in the process...i don't understand the zach randolph move, but they've got a good core of young talent with Mayo, Gay, Gasol, and Conley, and zach randolph is a 20 and 10 guy in spite of his many other issues. that team might surprise people this year.

Well of course Nocioni is perfect for us. I'm not sure the Kings would part with him but if they were, this deal would have done already in my opinion...

I think it was a bad move - they basically ended up with Randolph at the same cost in the same position and Randolph is significantly worse, despite his "20 and 10 guy" numbers.

But I don't blame Wallace for it - that was the owner's call to get rid of him. Wallace just should have gotten a lot more in return.

I'm not crazy about the length of Nocioni's contract.  I'd rather allocate that money to Ray Allen next year.

this would'nt be like the gasol deal because the kings would likely choose to... hmm.. idon't know, maybe look to see if there is a better offer. nothing like just giving a guy to the lakers(loser jerry west's favorite team).

Zach Randolph is a 20-10 guy who when on the court, his team ahs worse offensive efficiency (and while in NY, REBOUNDING!), which really just means he hogs shots and rebounds.

What's worse is, they could have signed Milsap or Lee for much cheaper (at more years however) but Heisley was too scared of the commitment.

Again, I'd love to see the trade, however, we would have to fill up those roster spots pretty quick. I guess the trade would be a lot better if it was Scal getting bought out and coming back to Boston. He's more valuable to us than anyone else anyway.

This trade idea isn't new, and Nocioni would be huge for the Celtics, but Im not sure Danny Ainge is willing to take on his contract. James Posey's contract expires in the same year and they weren't even willing to pay him for that long. The only thing that might sway Ainge is that Nocioni is 2 years younger then Posey.

But otherwise, Sacramento would probably be willing to trade him away for that package, but if Ainge is indeed willing to take on a big contract like that, then all of a sudden we can think of players like James Posey and even Corey Magette.

One question:  why would you want to trade Pruitt over Giddens and Walker?
We're receiving a forward and we need a PG...
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Pruit can be waived to save money, thus he's more attractive to teams wanting to dump salary.

I am all for this trade and ainge should be on the phone with sacramento making this happen!  Nocioni would help the c's a lot with his defense.  personally i think shane battier is a close 2nd in this regard but nocioni seems to fit a little better with his toughness and 'attitude' with this current c's team than battier.  nocioni is the type of guy who goes 110% but within his limits and not being all wild and careless(ahem TA)

We have our backup 2/3, his name is Marquis Daniels.
