Did Joe Smith retire? In my opinion he'd be a better option. He wasn't to impressive with the Cavs, but he'd still be a very good 4th big.
Yeah, Joe Smith ranks above Big Ben at this point.  The FT's would hurt.
I would prefer Joe Smith if he'd take the LLE, but I wonder if he would settle for that? He still has enough in the tank to get a bit more than that (2 mil range).

I'd be very interested in signing Ben Wallace. I thought he was playing very good basketball prior to his injury at mid-season.

Wallace is one of my 2 or 3 favourite choices for that fourth big role.

I would be all for it.He is a vet and he brings us another wide body and rebounds.
And the Fro is just a bonus!

Or will he get a PJ Brown Heisman tribute.

I'd go after him even if we retain Baby. It'll make trading Scal (and/or Baby) easier for us, plus at worst case scenario give us great depth for our big guys, with 5 people capable of defending centers at a fairly high level (some at a very very high level) and you can even say 6 people with Scal matching up with a couple of centers here and there.

If Baby comes back I'd much rather use the LLE to sign a 2/3. The only way I would still go after him is if he would take the vet min, which i wouldn't count on.

i suppose as the 4th or 5th big man on the team wallace would be adquate. let him play 10 minutes a night and against other teams' 4th big man he might be ok....but only for very little money.

ben would have to be willing to play for the chance at a ring since the celtics wont pay him much.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I love Ben he's crazy.  Wallace squared would be sweet.  I just don't see it happening.
If you think about it, he'd probably be a better fit than Baby.  Rasheed replaces a lot of what Baby did and Wallace #2 would replace Powe (and rebound a lot more than BBD would).

If he's at all healthy, I'd prefer Wallace over Baby.  Still a great rebounder and shot-blocker (6.5 and 1.3 in 23 minutes last season).
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

Me too -- Big Ben would be a superb piece as the fifth or sixth big. Great depth and an abundance of options on how Doc wants to matchup with the other team. I'd love to see that.

I think minutes will be important to Wallace when he's looking at which team he wants to join. I think he'll get a better offer, minutes wise, from someone else, so I think it's unlikely the C's would be able to get him in a 5th or 6th big man role. I'd love if they Celtics pulled it off though.

If Joe Smith and Big Ben will both take vet minimums, I say sign them both and say bye bye to Leon.
