any thoughts on Daniels? He put up 14 ppg and a couple of boards on a pretty bad Pacers team last year.  I remember him in Dallas being athletic, quick and a solid defender.  He's a  UFA that I have heard little about.  Can we get him for the LLE?  Do we want him for the LLE?  He also has sick hair, if that helps...

I'd like to see us get him over Moon to be honest. Can play the 2 and 3, defend and score.

He could spell minutes for Ray and PP.  He did well in his time while others were injured in Indiana.

For the LLE, absolutely.  I'm not sure he'd sign for that, though.

He played well last year and was paid 6mil last year, so he might want more.

If we pay anything near the LLE, I'm sure Indiana has the ability to pay more. Hopefully the appeal of playing for a winner would entice him. It would be great to have him, though I think it's unlikely.

I would love to have him though. THought he was a great utility guy in Dallas.

He wants more $$$ than the LLE.  However, I got the feeling last year that for some reason Indy doesn't like him that much, even though he was totally key in keeping them semi-competitive at the end of last year.  He'd be great on the Cs.

Roy, would a sign-and-trade of Daniels (Hasn't his contract already expired, if that matters?) for TA and Veal and, say, Walker or a second-round draft pick work?  I really don't think Daniels is in their plans.

It would work but that's a lot to give up. We'd have to fill up the roster with what ends up to be bottom feeders and cost quite a lot.

Really, for a lot of people we just have to wait for waht the market sets for these players, which is so far around 3 million (Quinton Ross, Dahntay Jones, Anthony Parker, Grant Hill)

Some Indy fans I have been talking to say he is very inconsistent. With that in mind and what I have seen last seasons I am sceptical. There is a risk we get Tony Allen v.2 here if we sign him.

Marquis Daniels has been talked about here quite a bit. Most have concluded that he's out of our price range.

Daniels would be a great fit here as a player but probably not as a contract unless it's as a sign and trade and Larry would accept pennies on the dollar in return for Daniels(Tony, Pruitt, Scal) in Indiana.

Actually, I'm sure Larry Bird will somehow make a sign and trade with Daniels not making a lot but us having to take TInsley....he's been trying to unload that guy for years now.

I assure you that he is incomparably better than TA.  Not to say he isn't a bit of a loose canon sometimes, but his mistakes are the exception, with TA endless screw-ups are the rule.

My prior list of what we might trade for him was only meant to suggest the sort of assets a sign-and-trade might involve from our end.  If the market is $3.5, then we obviously only have to trade that amount.  TA and Walker would probably do it.  They lack a quick, defensive element on their team, and Walker has upside.

A lot to give up? Larry's going to laugh if you make him that offer for Daniels.
